We had a fantastic 4 night stay as a family of 5 in a 3 bed apartment. Just wish we had stayed longer! The two ladies on reception were fantastic and helped arrange tours, gave us ideas and pointed us in the right direction so we had a fabulous stay in port Douglas. The pool(s) itself is incredible,
Don’t think I’ve ever seen such a big pool! It was always spotless, and even when lots of other villas were in it still felt empty as it’s so big! Absolutely perfect for a morning or evening swim after all the activities PD has to offer. We loved the self catering apartment and it was really well stocked so we could cook a couple of evenings. Would absolutely stay again if I was in PD. Also really easy to get into town in the paid shuttle so not a problem not being central.

I loved the location, right on the beautiful beach, set in tropical vegetation, with birds moving around the branches, singing and swawking.
The public areas such as the bar, swimming pool and spa were lovely and well maintained.
The food and drinks were excellent, an interesting menu for very reasonable prices and imaginative cocktails.
The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming and they ensured a smooth check in when I arrived late to my room.
The atmosphere is very friendly as typified by the dinners with other guests on the long tables.

The property was so luxurious and spacious for our family of 5. Kitchen was well stocked with plenty of cups glasses etc. great fridge with ice making facilities. Whole place was super clean with comfy beds. We loved the robes. The pool was a perfect temperature and we had it to ourselves for an afternoon. The location was perfect a few minutes walk to the beach and right at the end of the street with the shops restaurants and cafes.

it was such a nice place to stay in Port Douglas if you have a car! close to the center (10 minutes) and close to the wildlife habitat! the staff was so nice and there was everything in the apartment! the swimming pool was really nice!

We love Mossman as a quick stay on our way to the Daintree. The Woolies is great to re stock, we had pies from the lovely organic dough pie shop and were excited to be traveling through on a Saturday as Mossman markets are one of our favorites (and we’ve visited a few!)

Cottonwood is like an estate all to yourself, well- and fully-appointed, in close proximity to Port Douglas, Mossman, Daintree & the rainforest. More than enough amenities. It might be considered "expensive" by some but not by us, not for what you get for your money. Amenities? It does not lack any and actually exceeds what most would consider "more-than-enough", much less "the basics". And the Hosts are just that, to a tee: Helpful beforehand and during our stay. Thank you very much.

Great touring options available from Port Douglas into the surrounding area including to the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rain Forrest. Numerous restaurants, cafes and pubs for eating out. Carefully choose your time of year travelling due to the climate and tour availability.

Mossman is actually closer to the Daintree and Cape...
Mossman is actually closer to the Daintree and Cape Tribulation than Port Douglas, but Port is a very short drive away to be able get to reef cruises and activities there.
Mossman is the old town, still with elements of 'country', check out the Exchange Hotel (there is a Woolworths on the edge of town - I wish they'd hide it behind large trees) and a regular market every Saturday (10.00 am - 1.00 pm) in the historic church grounds.
It is not overwhelmed by tourism, but the surrounding areas have B&B and accommodation options.
Mossman Gorge is an amazing upland rainforest experience.
You get one of the mini-busses from the Visitor Info Centre (every 15 mins until 5.30 pm) This takes you to the walking trail. The first part is boardwalk, then an easy bush trail in a circuit.
The forest is spectacular, very relaxing to see & hear the water of the Mossman River. Sit on the seating or a rock near the trail and wonder at the profusion of life that fills every space.
TIP: Take a towel & wear swimmers, as there is a rock pool about 2/3 of or the way along the bush trail with clear fresh water, safe to wade & cool off in.

Amazing sights and beautiful scenery. It was very humid so we were in the pool most of the time and restaurants didn’t have air conditioner and were a bit pricy. But otherwise beautiful place to stay and see. Would definitely recommend it.
