They were currently in a handover to become the owners and hearing their plans and vision for the place, once they're in full swing it sounds like it'll be a must-stop place on the way to Swan Hill and Lake Tyrrell.

I arrived pretty late 10pm and I was supposed to check in by 1800 hour, with a simple phone call all I need and also an easy check out. Thank you Don. Everything about Halls Gap Lakeside Tourist Park is on point! Perfect! Exceed our expectation in every way. The staff are friendly, kind and welcoming and really helpful! We went there for 2 nights but unfortunately during the time the national park was closed. The staff recommend us other stuff we can do at Halls Gap and also help us check the update news of the nation park. Our cabin is cute and has all the things we need (kitchen, kitchenware, bbq stove, etc). The cabin is also nice and clean! Beds are great and comfy. The location is also very good. There are lots of wildlives we are able to meet (kangaroos, emu, cockatoos, and other birds). The price is reasonable and very good for what the room we got!

Grampians Pioneer Cottages are a real gem near Halls Gap @ the heart of the Grampians. We stayed here for the second time - this time with our family.
We loved the cosy and beautifully furnished cottage, equipped with all you need to make your stay comfortable and nestled in superb, wild nature. We admired the visit of many kangaroos, emus, birds … who were literally at our doorstep, enjoyed the fabulous fireplace in the evening. What an unforgettable experience. We hope we can come back again soon.
We can highly recommend this place. You will not regret it.

Spotless, extremely well equipped, spacious and the wildlife in front of the porch was spectacular.
Naighre was exceptionally helpful in her very detailed explanation of our options as first time Hall’s Gap visitors which made our stay so much more valuable. Very much appreciated.
Waking up with kangaroos, ducks and cockatoos ruining while grazing the the beautiful garden was a magical sight.
In other review somebody complained about synthetic sheets, well 80% cotton is good for me. Slept like a baby!

We stayed here on a Saturday night because we were doing one of the local ghost tours in town. They were currently in the middle of a renovation when we stayed, but that didn’t bother us. We were in a newly renovated room and it was really good. Nicely done, great bathroom, good amenities and the service was good too. The location is great because it’s a two minute walk from the main street with good local shops and restaurants. I would recommend staying here if you need somewhere in Ararat.

We loved everything about the cabin, it was so nice and comfy yet so closed to the nature. When we wake up, we do see kangaroos, wallabies and even an Emu just outside the window of our cabin, it was a really amazing experience. The place was kept very clean and tidy, the cabin has all the necessary amenities, it looks exactly like in the picture. It was a very nice getaway in the Grampian and we would definitely come back to try put indoor massage service they offered.

Lovely, clean, spacious and well equipped cottages. Situated on the edge of the woods, you're sharing your backyard with tens of kangaroos, deer, cockatoos, kookaburras and parrots. If you want to be up close and personal with nature this is the place. The pool was an added bonus.

We were fortunate to have a beautiful sunny and sit in the sun and eat one of the ice-creams from the shop by the stream, local cockatoos sit on the grass waiting for a crumb, but recommended for their health. We ate at the local hotel and viewed Kangaroos, Emus and Deer grazing in the adjoining paddocks. Lake Bellfield is a relaxing place to view the water which supplies many Wimmera towns and farms.

Location was great of this accommodation. The local Vic hotel very average meals. The quaintness and quietness was lovely. Not a place I'd stay longer than a couple of days. Do not stop at the bakery in Ararat.. really bad.. we threw our food... Go to a supermarket or have a BBQ.

Ararat is a good base to use for exploring nearby areas such as the Grampians.It has local attractions as well.Train service to Melbourne is available and coach services from the station to other towns leave from the station too.Nice botanical garden for a walk as well.A visit to the tourist centre would be a worthwile stop for information.

A few pubs at Nhill, however the recommended place was shut for Sunday dinner unfortunately. Owner was helpful however and suggested a couple of alternatives (the only alternatives in Nhill!!!)
Not much there but a friendly town halfway between Adelaide and Melbourne.
Think there was a bakery but that was closed. The IGA was open thank goodness.

Sea Lake is a small town with a wonderful pub (Excellent meal at The Royal) and a beautiful mural on the silos. The light show on the mural was below what was expected but that was our high expectation. The set up at Lake Tyrell is excellent though the corrugated road to the lake side facility was annoying. (surprised council does not maintain it since it is a prime tourist destination for the town). The sun rise and sunset views at Lake Tyrell were fabulous, but the dark sky experience is overrated due to bright light coming from the salt works across the lake and a glow coming from a town? to the east. Overall, worth a stopover.

The takeaway in Dimboola was closed (for 3 weeks) coinciding with my stay (5 days). This limited eating options to just 1 pub, the Victoria Hotel. This a good venue.
Spent my whole stay cycling. Didn't attempt any other sight seeing.

It is a fascinating town, old goldfields, amazing 19thC architecture, good caravan park. For us it's been a transit overnight being halfway between Adelaide Hills Home and Falls Creek, with numerous trips to family winter and summer last 12 or so years. Worth a longer stay but ...circumstances... A shout-out to the Farmers Arms Hotel for good pub food on a Sunday evening!!
