Great hotel featuring a spa for relaxation. The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. While parking is available on site, space is limited, and guests may need to pay approximately 20 Euros per night if unlucky. However, the rooms are well-equipped, immaculately clean, and regularly refreshed, ensuring a comfortable stay. Additionally, the hotel offers a delicious breakfast spread. There is also a pub located in the hotel if you want to have a drink or dinner without going outside. Conveniently, guests can rent equipment directly from the hotel, adding to its appeal. Moreover, there is a transfer service to the ski lifts, although guests should note that the hotel is slightly distant from the ski lift areas, requiring a short drive each time. Fast internet connection.

1. Location. The location is 10 out of 10. Firstly, there is a bus stop right next to the hotel. We traveled from Barcelona by public bus. Got on the bus at the airport and comfortably drove straight to the hotel door. The same way we got back to the airport. The hotel is located very close to the ski lift (about +/- 100 meters). 5 minutes and you are there. There are also a large number of all kinds of cafes, restaurants, bars in the area. For every taste and budget. 2. Hotel. The room is small but very cozy. The bathroom has all the necessary accessories. The room cleaning is excellent. What especially pleased me about the room - it was very warm in it. The heating, unlike many hotels in the mountains, was excellent. We turned it on for a short period when we needed to dry something. The radiators instantly became very hot. Even without turning on the heating, we often kept the window open to get fresh air and the room still remained warm. Food at the hotel is beyond all praise. We had breakfast and dinner. Breakfast, in my opinion, is so called continental: different juices, coffee, tea, muesli, croissants, bread, ham, cheese, jam, honey, fruits... To be honest I would prefer to eat some hot dish for breakfast. At least scrambled eggs. But it depends on preference. Anyway there was enough food for breakfast. But as for dinners, they are a masterpiece! From the extensive menu you can choose any dish as a starter (salad, soup, cold appetizer), main course and dessert. There is also a soup of the day, which changes daily. What is more, several times a week the restaurant offers some special dish that is not on the menu (ribs, pizza, lasagna, chicken in mushroom sauce, etc.). This is a separate culinary delight! But even if you don't take into account these specially prepared dishes, all the food on the menu is very tasty. I like it when the beef in the dishes roasted to the medium rare, and everything was cooked to perfection!

I fell in love with it at first sight. It has a laid-back soul, beautiful scenery, and friendly locals. That’s why I stayed an extra day. The bus stop is just nearby, making it easy to get to and from. I visited during the off-season. Although most restaurants and hotels were closed, finding food was still no trouble at all.

We stayed here as a group of 7 and had a great time overall. The location is beautiful, the property is spacious, and the staff were genuinely kind and helpful — they even waived the parking fee because of an issue we had, which we really appreciated. The apartment easily fits large groups (it could handle 12 without feeling cramped), making it a fantastic option if you’re traveling with family or friends. A few things could have been better. Finding the key safe for self check-in was surprisingly tricky; the location link wasn’t very accurate, and we saw other guests struggling with it too. Once inside, we found the cooking range didn’t work and there were no clear instructions on how to get help after reception hours, so we couldn’t cook at all. Also, there were quite a lot of bugs outside — to be expected in early summer, but worth noting. Tips for future guests: double-check check-in instructions before you arrive, and consider bringing easy meals or dining out in case of kitchen issues. Despite these hiccups, it’s a lovely spot with plenty of room and very kind staff.

The village offered a decent selection of restaurants. I went to ski & the Funicamp telecabin takes you directly to the top of the mountain (above Espiolets) - a great place to commence your day. Encamp offers an ideal (and more economic) alternative to the other ski villages e.g. Soldeu, Pas de la Casa

Canillo it self is a lovely place and convenient to ski and Grandvalira resort in Canillo has the zipline experience and also roller coaster which is lots of fun also when you do zip line there is a lovely little park at the bottom which is ideal for snow fights which we took full advantage of and also made snow men local shops are ok and the petrol station is also good. There is lots of places to walk They also had a lighting event you can walk through and even mini little hikes you can do if you like to do long walks like us. The rivers are also nice. Good to have a car here to explore more of the areas.

I was advised to hire a car for the up hill walk back, but definitely hire lockers down at the lift, this makes the walk a bit easier. I wouldn't have needed a car, but older people may, it is a 10+ minute walk, but it did not phase any of us. The accommodation is large and facilities excellent, on the whole excellent value for money, I will short list the accommodation for future visits. The communication too from the host was excellent.

BEWARE. This appartment does not exist.

BEWARE. This appartment does not exist. The address shown is an office in another town (Pas de la Casa, not El Tarter). The photos shown are selected from other appartments. The apartment is certainly NOT "located in Sant Pere del Tarter, few yards from Grandvalira's ski slopes". The booking agent Altissim directed us to another apartment but if was 1.5km from the ski lift and needed a bus journey each day to and from the lift. And the facilites were not the same as booked. Booking.com were made aware of this scam but several months later they continue to advertise this fictitious aprtment. And under their T&Cs they claim they cannot be held responsible unless the company advertising the fake apartment instructs them to remove the post. Save the hassle and book elsewhere.

Good ski domain and easy access to the slopes.

Good ski domain and easy access to the slopes. Well managed ski slopes and helpful welcoming people all around. The only issue is the noisy nature of the town with a lot of drunk people shouting at night. The smell of joints is also very common everywhere, including on the chair lifts, almost as common as in Amsterdam before the change of rules. This should be better managed as I had not noticed this when I came 8 years ago. Shopping is limited if you don’t want cigarettes, alcohol, make up. A lot less options than a few years ago. Found lots of good restaurants with a wide variety of food options at reasonable value. Overall, a good base for skiing but with compromises.

We visit Soldeu often for ski-ing, usually 3-4 days. We're able to drive there and if our accommodation doesn't have parking it's generally available at a reasonable cost. We like the ease of access to the slopes and being able to hire ski lockers at the base of the gondola. It's a smaller village that suits us. We enjoy the ambience, walking around and the restaurants. We always enjoy eating at La Taverna de la Iaia, L'era de la Cort Soldeu and on our last trip at La Caleta. We've yet to try La Cort de Popaire Soldeu that has a good fixed menu and generally good reviews. There's a good range of bars and places to eat. If you plan to self-cater the supermarkets have limited supplies beyond basic, so it might be best to take some with you.
