Our safari there was unforgettable! Not only did we see an abundance of wild animals on the game drives, we could also watch animals from our private balcony and the pool and even got visited by an elephant wandering around the lodge. All staff was very welcoming and our guide Given was truly amazing. We did see the big 5 within just 5 game drives. Most of the animals were a whole lot closer than we ever hoped for. Given was very knowledgeable and did tell us so many interesting bits and pieces about wild life and life in South Africa. We enjoyed our time there so much that we even extended our stay by one more night. Definitely recommend!

Our stay at Mohlatetsi Bush Lodge was nothing short of magical—one of those rare experiences that stays with you long after you’ve left. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and immersed in the beauty and serenity of the bush. Located a short drive from Balule Gate, the private lodge was 3 km down a rugged track—secluded and worth every bump. The main house had a stunning open-plan kitchen, dining area, lounge, and bar, opening to a deck overlooking the bush and a watering hole. The private pool was a highlight, with staff setting up loungers and fresh towels daily. The outdoor area featured a barbecue, fire pit, and dining table, with staff setting the fire and chairs for evenings under the stars. The setup was perfect for two families with five children. The main house had three en-suite bedrooms, one with an outdoor bathroom overlooking the bush. Two separate houses, one with twin beds and the other a double, also had en-suite bathrooms for privacy. Game drives were unforgettable, with early starts rewarded by incredible sightings of the Big Five, including a rare black rhino with her baby. After each drive, we were greeted with refreshing, scented towels—a thoughtful touch. Downtime was spent lounging by the pool, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere, or watching cheeky monkeys, geckos, and mongooses around the lodge. Self-catering was effortless, with a well-equipped kitchen, huge fridge, and attentive staff who set the table and handled the dishes. The combination of luxury, adventure, and serenity exceeded all our expectations, and we can’t wait to return!

Chacma is the perfect place from which to explore the big 5 and the broader SA safari experience. The setting is natural and beautiful with meals eaten outside to make the most of the waterhole and potential for wildlife spotting. Between safari rides comfortable rooms, shady spots across the camp and the pool provide the perfect setting for reading and relaxation. With just three rooms at Chacma, you’re guaranteed a much more intimate experience than staying at a bigger location. As a solo traveller the real highlight was the friendly and fun team behind Chacma: Matt, Josh and Charlie are fantastic, passionate guides who guaranteed that each trip out provided memorable, safe experiences while Karen, Lynx and the wider team at Chacma ensured a comfortable stay. You’ll learn so much from this team and they are only too happy to share their knowledge and experience with you. A special place I can’t wait to return to.

My boyfriend and I stayed for 2 nights and it was simply incredible! The care and attention to detail were something I hadn’t experienced in a long time. They were always making sure we had the best experience possible. We arrived late, and even so, they prepared a special lunch just for us. The bed was super comfortable, and the thoughtful touch of leaving hot water bottles made everything even more special. There are 2 game drives per day, and we were able to see the animals really up close, with guides who were so attentive and passionate about what they do. I must give a special thanks to Tamara, who was always so helpful and even assisted me in recovering my jacket that I had forgotten at the lodge. I highly recommend it with my eyes closed! An excellent place to stay — just book it and enjoy the best safari!

The lodge was perfect and cosy. Everything worked. Rooms were clean. The guides were so so good and peofessional. They were always as exited as we were when we saw animal and they always wanted to give us good experience. The food was also very very good. Haardus was an excellent host! He was very knowledgeable and passionate about the bush. He was also extremely informative. The property was superb and surpassed our expectations! I would love to return in the future! The kitchen was fully stocked and the property was very clean. No bugs or insects in early July either.

We were the only guests, and were given a free upgrade to the chalet with private pool. The host and gardener were also very kind and helpful. We greatly enjoyed spotting smaller wildlife from the hide out during the sunset and sunrise, and the peace and quiet of the stay. During the night we were visited by a honey badger twice that tried to get into the cupboards and fridge, some excitement for sure!

An exceptional location with magnificent views, experiences and staff. You really feel like you’re visiting a long term friend’s house when you’re here, but you’re meeting some other friends (guests) too! The pool is exceptional, the food was incredible, the game drives were always more than expected!

The location on the river was perfect so much game viewing possible from terrace. Villa spacious with own pool but resort pool was lovely as well. Lunch and dinner served to you very nice and often 2 wines and a desert wine offered in the evenings. Breakfast was a buffet poss could have had more pastries etc but was still good. Staff were very accommodating.

Staff very welcoming and couldn't do more upon arrival and throughout the day. Facilities were great and they made a real effort to ensure the stay was romantic and enjoyable. Game drives were fantastic and the drivers knew exactly where to go. My partner had a massage which was really good value for money. Pool was nice to cool off after a long day tracking the animals! You will see the big 5 at this reserve!

The property is super nice, with a fence around it so also safe. Is has a really nice public area with a great swimming pool and view over the parc. While chilling there you can always see some animals.

An incredible lodge! Very remote and a vehicle with ground clearance is highly recommended. But you are rewarded with a breathtaking view from the terrace. While you cool your feet in the pool, you have the best view of nature. We saw several elephants and giraffes passing right by the fence. The next day there was a live hunt by two lions for impallas. We would never have dared to dream of it. Besides the gamedrives, bushwalks and safaris in the Kruger, you should definitely plan a day on the terrace. It's definitely worth it.
