If you’re staying in Nürnberg (an ideal hub city from which to launch day trips in every direction), then take it from a repeat guest: this is your optimal choice of accommodation: five-star quality at a surprisingly reasonable price. This was my second stay at this Sheraton Carlton, and it was every bit as satisfying as my first. The location is note-perfect: right by the main train station, close to top sights such as the Germanisches Nationalmuseum and the Verkehrsmuseum, and with a post office for mailing home souvenir parcels just off to the other side of the Hauptbahnhof. The rooms are immaculately clean, comfortably laid out with cozy carpeting (so much preferable to rock-hard tile or hardwood flooring), spacious, yet boasting all of the amenities that one could ever want, from tea-making facilities and a mini-fridge to a nicely sized balcony. Breakfast here is outstanding, featuring gourmet-quality scrambled eggs, bacon, and the delicious Röstla roasted sausages for which the city is renowned, and which are made better in Nürnberg than in any other city. The lightning-fast laundry service returns clothing the very same day. The wonderfully friendly and courteous staff treat backpacking travellers just as well as they do their upscale clientele. I was even granted an early check in (a rare treat at a German hotel in the summer). The opportunity to bed down again at this heavenly hotel was a determining factor in my decision to return to Nürnberg this year rather than use a different city as a base, and I’m glad that I did; indeed, I hope to return Nürnberg again someday, and when I do, I wouldn’t even dream of staying anywhere else.

I had a great stay at this hotel. The location was perfect, easy to get around, and close to everything I needed. The room was clean and well-maintained, which made the stay comfortable. What stood out most was the staff: very polite, helpful, and professional throughout my visit. I also appreciated the breakfast selection—especially the gluten-free bread option, which isn’t always easy to find. Overall, a reliable and pleasant experience. Would definitely recommend it.

The host was just the best host I have ever been lucky enough to meet. I had a guided tour of the property, and was shown the local underground station too in order to help me with my travels. Just amazing - when does that happen in 2025?!
