The location is perfect for walking the lanes yet peaceful once inside the courtyard. Tips for Western travelers: cars can’t enter the old town, so message the hotel for pickup; wear comfortable shoes; and leave time to simply enjoy the courtyard—part heritage museum, part modern gallery. A flawless stay.

The location is absolutely a hidden gem—just a two-minute walk gets you to Rishengchang Bank, so there’s no need to get up early to soak in the Jin merchant culture. It’s super convenient to head back for a break after visiting the attractions. What’s more, the surrounding area is bustling with life. When you stroll out in the evening, the lanterns light up, and old shops and street food stalls are right in front of you, full of that lively, authentic vibe. No need to hunt for places to eat; just step into any spot, and it’s sure to be delicious. The biggest surprise, though, is the service here—they truly take care of every little detail. When I checked in, the owner warmly introduced local attractions, even telling me which shop has the most authentic Pingyao beef and the best time to visit Rishengchang to avoid crowds. That kind of thoughtful care makes the whole trip feel so warm. I’ll definitely stay here again when I come back to Pingyao. Great location, amazing atmosphere, and service that’s second to none—highly recommended!

The property itself is a masterpiece—a beautifully restored 15th-century traditional Chinese building that looks spectacular both inside and out. The moment you step in, you feel the history: wood carvings, antique details, and a serene courtyard atmosphere. At the same time, the rooms feature superb high-tech interior design, combining heritage and modern luxury perfectly. Breakfast was delicious every morning, with fresh, flavorful dishes that were a real highlight of our stay. The hotel’s central location made it easy to explore the area on foot. We would also like to thank our wonderful hostess. She was funny, kind, and extremely helpful, always available to assist with anything we needed. Our driver was equally fantastic—professional, safe, and very knowledgeable about the area. He made transportation and sightseeing effortless. This hotel delivers heritage, beauty, comfort, and hospitality at the highest level. We would gladly stay here again.

The Guandi Family Temple is only a 10min walk from the property, very easy to reach and totally worth the visit. As for other tourism attractions although a bit far, the hotel can recommend drivers and the prices are acceptable.
