This is actually a review for the Hotel Malovec-same owner, but they moved me over to the hotel when I checked in; it’s about a 3-minute walk down the street. Absolutely lovely, comfortable room, very clean, lovely bathroom, great water pressure in the shower. The included breakfast was completely out of this world. So if you’re reading this, and trying to decide between Guesthouse Risnik and Hotel Malovec, I can’t speak to the guesthouse, but knowing what I know now I would absolutely spend the 25 extra euros to stay at Malovec. Even for the breakfast alone.

We had a short trip around Europe, going through Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy and then back to Bulgaria. The kids were impressed by a handful of things during the trip and one of those on top of their list was our short stay at Sežana! I've read all the reviews on Booking.com and I thought it was just a bit too good to be true - a rating this high is rare to see these days. After staying for a night, not only do I understand why this property is rated so high, but I also think it's not rated high enough. It deserves a perfect 10 and no less! I won't repeat everything else that guests have said, I will just confirm it's all true.

Great hotel with great support workforces, rooms are cosy and comfortable, the breakfast room has various foods for vegetarians and meat-eaters, all was fantastic. Just right next to the hotel, there is a pizzeria, very good quality pizzas and local slovenian dishes, I may propose to visit that place as well.

The staff couldn't do enough for us. Danjiela especially goes far and behond. All the restaurant staff super kind, prompt, polite. Excellent and vast menu, super portions of quality food. Felt like royalty!

Breakfast was excellent and we were able to have it 20 minutes early in order to catch our train. Receptionist was really nice (and spoke good English) and although we arrived about 10.30am arranged for us to get access to our room within half an hour which made it much easier for us. Less than 10 minutes walk from railway station and about an hour's walk from Škocjan caves.

Rooms were quite large and clean, breakfast was pretty good. It was also greatly located to the Train Station and as a starting Point to several Hikes, Skocjan Caves and others.
