Pet-friendly hotels and homes in Castro Verde

On my 1,000-kilometre round trip through Portugal, I was glad to have discovered a bicycle hotel along the way. No, the hotel is not only very nice for cyclists, but it is particularly nice for them. At the end of November, I was actually the only guest. Suzanna had already contacted me in advance by phone and then by WhatsApp and sent me the access codes as a precaution. However, she received me in person upon my arrival. We had a nice and also a bit longer conversation. I felt very comfortable and almost like family. The hotel has a very unique and pleasant atmosphere, both due to its location on a pretty little street and its ambience. You can follow the owners' great bicycle adventure trips on the maps on the wall and get a bit excited about them. My room was very cosy and I fell asleep very quickly after a strenuous day's cycling. The next day, I received the most delicious breakfast on my fortnight-long trip through Portugal at the time of my choice (I was able to choose a ‘menu’), a really very "sofisticated" porridge with persimmon and matching spices. Delicious and a good source of energy for the mountain stage to Faro that day. During my search for possible tour recommendations for unpaved roads, I found the homepage of the gravel race (https://www.gravelbirds.cc/) with a route recommendation. I couldn't use it very well for me because my direction from north to south didn't fit well with it. But the pictures on the homepage got me in the right mood in the last few days before the start of my trip. It was perhaps no surprise that the hotel owners are also the co-organisers of this race. As a small ‘compensation’ I received several route recommendations (sent digitally) for the further route in the beautiful surroundings and was really very grateful for that. Would I like to come back? Yes, definitely.

Everything. The house was absolutely charming and well equipped. The village is quaint and quiet. Our entire party slept comfortably in the beds. Cool weather was happening but there were heaters and a fireplace to keep us warm. If I didn't live so far away, I'd love to stay for weeks.

First and foremost I would like to convey a big thank you to Vanessa, the caretaker. A friendly, hardworking individual who always had a smile. This location was beyond my expectations and suited what I was looking for perfectly. Great place and I highly recommend

The hostess was exceptional, always there to help. Excellent breakfast. Large, comfortable room. The house is cosy. Wi-Fi is excellent.

The team member who checked me in was very helpful - it was late christmas eve so he was helpful advising me of the area. The place was quite and safe, very contained but still open. Parking brilliant. I bet in the summer it is of high demand as I can see a pool ready to jump into

Everything fantastic. Very nice vibe, nice host, very friendly and welcoming, very clean, quiet atmosphere and a very cosy terrace with sublime sunset views. The refurbishment of the house really does honour to the place and the family of the owner who used to live here.

What a gem! In a place ouside a small village we foud this fantastic oasis. So elegantly built with spacious bungalows overlooking a small lake. Total silence. Nice view of the countryside. We loved it! Breakfast served at your doodstep in a nice basket.

Lovely stay at a tiny house, very comfortable both inside and outside. Nice sunbeds and very quite, in the middle of nowhere. From there is was 1 minute walk to swimming pool, but we spent most of the time around our house. We brought food and drinks so no need to go anywhere and just enjoy nature and being there. The next morning a beautiful picknick basket with a wonderful breakfast was delivered on our doorstep: more than enough and obviously a lot of effort they put in making it as comfortable as possible. We did not visit the restaurant.

It is a truely beautiful hotel with lots of love to detail. The village is very charming! Everything was clean and communication super friendly and easy!
