Fantastic value for money - what's described by Lighthouse Beach Home as the "budget room" could be "deluxe" elsewhere. Rooms are well maintained and nicely equipped, even if small - still comfortable, and you can shower while looking at the lighthouse through the bathroom window. The family running the place is very friendly and speak good English. Next to the guesthouse they have a nice, quirky restaurant on the waterfront. You can park a tuk tuk or a bike in the garden - sun beds then get moved to the rooftop terrace, which has views to the ocean and the bay.

This was the best stay I've had in two weeks in Sri Lanka. Modern apartment, I only stayed one night but it was suitable for a long stay with kitchen, laundry detergent, proper toiletries, and strong wifi. Hosts were super nice and friendly, they allowed me to store my luggage before check in and to check out later while I was waiting for my friend to arrive by train, then drove us both to Hiriketiya for a really good price. Locations is just one minute walk to train station and about 20 min walk to fort.

Dinu and her parents are the sweetest hosts! The property is cleaner than my house :P, there is a small kitchen set up with almost everything for random hour hunger pangs, the bed and furniture is charming! It is a little walk from the main road (2 mins) but all the great restaurants are within 200m. Really loved my stay and highly recommend it ! Very reasonable also. Not to forget the big big breakfast spread they put out on my checkout day!

I had a wonderful time at Gypsea’. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was so good, perfect way to start the day. The location was close to the beach and walking distance to many other cafes and restaurants. It was the perfect place to relax for a week. I will definitely be back.

We were really lucky to find this place and spent 11 nights here! If we come back to Sri Lanka, we will definitely stay in Sandbank again. New, clean, comfortable room with cozy terrace. Super-friendly, caring staff - they were always ready to help with ALL our requests. We felt ourselves very welcomed guests - not just regular clients. The place is located in quiet part of Madiha which was important for us - no loud music and parties around. There is no usual beach nearby but for us it was advantage as we don’t like crowds and swimming - just be in the ocean and jump with waves) Just several moments were specific and could be important to know in advance: there is no hot water (it’s not cold of course, just fresh), WiFi didn’t work in our room (n3), just on terrace - but this points just details, not problems and it couldn’t mess up our stay in such a great place.
