Set in a historic building, the property comes with a year-round outdoor pool and is set 12 km from Quinta da Regaleira. We stayed in one of the cottages at Collares Sintra Petit Palais for 3 nights and were immediately impressed by the peaceful, classy atmosphere. The cottage was beautifully renovated, with a wood burner, fully equipped kitchen, and immaculate interiors. The grounds are stunning and well maintained, with plenty of quiet spots to relax. Beds were very comfortable, the shower had excellent pressure, and the entertainment options, including Netflix, were ideal for cosy evenings in. Communication with the owner was excellent, helpful and thoughtful without being intrusive. Although our flight was delayed, they let us know Uber Eats was available, which was a great backup option. The location is close to beaches, towns, and restaurants, though a rental car is definitely helpful – which we had. One thing to be mindful of is that the property is part of a small complex, so you do have close neighbours. It’s peaceful and respectful, so probably not the place to stay if you’re the loud, late-night karaoke type! The communal areas were nicely arranged, and the pool looked beautiful, even though we did not use it. We would absolutely love to return.

A delayed flight meant I arrived after midnight but she waited up and was only goodhearted about it. I came to hike along the coast and she gave lots of advice on where (walking to and around Monserrat was a great suggestion) plus places to eat. Breakfast was filling, the room spotless, the bed perfectly comfortable, the wifi strong. Easy walk into the centre of beautiful Azenhas.
