Situated in Lake Tekapo, 46 km from Mt. Dobson, Galaxy Boutique Hotel features views of the mountain. Our room looked over Lake Tekapo with table and chairs set in front of a large picture window - perfect for sipping wine as the sun set. It was a short drive down to see the Church of the Good Shepherd and main sites of Tekapo with a 90 minute drive to Mount Cook. The skylight over the bed made for stunning views of the stars. The breakfast in the morning was made to order in a nice setting in the lobby (option for room service was offered as well). The room is very comfortable and the soaking tub with views of the lake was divine!! Would definitely recommend this stay!

The place is comfortable, with a cozy bed, a jacuzzi, and cooking facilities. The location is close to trekking spots, including the White Horse Hill Campground, the starting point of the Hooker Valley Track.

Alps Motel & Apartments provides air-conditioned rooms in Twizel. All rooms feature a kitchenette, a flat-screen TV with cable channels, and a private bathroom. I honestly was a bit put off by the word “motel” in the name, as that reminds me of some negative experiences from the past. But I was needlessly worried. Our stay at Alps was excellent. The room was big, very comfortable, and spotlessly clean. The staff couldn’t have been nicer, and the location is a short walk from a supermarket, several good restaurants and bars, and a great little coffee shop and cafe. And it’s only a 40 minute drive to Aoraki / Mt Cook National park. We opted to stay here rather than in Mt. Cook village, and we’re so glad we did. We much preferred the small town atmosphere of Twizel and the price point and quality of Alps Motel over what we saw in Mt. Cook village.

Facilities were great (beds, shower, wifi, laundry). We definitely enjoyed staying here even for just 1 night. Love the small balcony as well. Would stay here again next time.

The location was perfect for us and clean is the understatement as it was spotless. Plenty of space with everything you need for a proper relaxing break. Carol and Noel were so friendly and helpful too. We would highly recommend a stay here.

The villa has a picnic area and a hot tub. This property was stunning. We used it as a base for snowboarding Ohau and treble cone. The fireplace & hot tub were a massive hit for us after the hill. Star gazing was also impeccable from the back yard! We also checked out the lake nearby (recommended from the host in their welcome book) and had a quick cold water plunge. Whole experience was excellent. Comfy beds. We will be back.
