La Urraca Loca Hostel has a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Balgue. Featuring barbecue facilities, the property is located within 12 km of Maderas Volcano. The accommodation features a shared kitchen, a tour desk and currency exchange for guests. Without a doubt the best hostel I've stayed at throughout the entire Central America. The huts are tucked away in a lush tropical garden and it is a little heaven of peace and calm. This is not a party hostel and I loved the chill vibe. The only sounds you'll hear are the birds (hence the name of the hostel). I was in an 8-bed dorm which was a bit tight but each bed has its own fan the the bed was comfortable - I slept like a baby. The facilities are super clean, one of rare places that sorts out trash for recycling, there is a lovely terrace and upper chillout area where you can see the Concepcion volcano. They offer breakfast at a good price and the typical Nica breakfast was delicious. There's a different evening meal on offer every day but I didn't try any. The staff were really kind and helped me organise a few things such as kayaking, transport, bike, etc. If I ever go back to Ometepe, I will definitely book this place again. Excellent!

Both WiFi and private parking are accessible at the lodge free of charge. Magic place! Ryan, family and all the staff were so lovely and helpful. Amazing food, great location, loved the little hut. I was staying with my brother so they also made an effort of giving us separate beds. So many things to do nearby! The waterfall hike was beautiful.
