The setting of the large, comfortable tents in the quiet of the desert; the fantastic dinner braai packs with venison steak, salad, home-made bread and even a dessert (as we were not set up for camping, we were given crockery to use for our meal); the swim in the fish pond/pool with mountains in the background; the long shared breakfast table, where we met interesting fellow travellers. The owner Anna and Ernst at reception, who were both lovely, and the beer in the fridge there which was always cold :). We are seriously considering going back there for a longer stay!

Would love to have stayed more than one night, but was cost prohibitive.

Solitaire Mountain Lodge offers views of the Namib Desert and the Naukluft Mountains. It features 1 outdoor pool, a garden and a restaurant. Staff bent over backwards to make us comfortable. We are vegan and made sure we always had nice things to eat.

I was looking for a place that is between Swakopmund, Sossuvlei from Windhoek. This place is statically located in the middle. So I went to Soss one day and upon checking out I saved over an hour to drive to Swakopmund. Value for money, the room was spacious with rooftop, you can tan & watch stars later at night. Stunning Mountain View from the lodge and the restaurant . Staff were very welcoming and kind, they made me feel like home. Food was amazing! Chef was generous. Most importantly booked a private tour to the dunes, the guild Silva and the driver were amazing! They were very helpful and knowledgeable, Silva walked with me from the parking to the top of the Big Daddy dune, he knew how to take awesome pictures and videos too. The tour was included park fees as well.
