We were lucky to get opportunity to stay at this property! Everything was absolutely great. The view from the room was exceptional, comfortable rooms, amazing and helpful team and hosts. Breakfast was delicious! Location is out of super loud area in Ahangama, very near by shops, bars, restaurants, swimming beach, surf places. It’s absolutely everything you need while staying in Ahangama. Thank you for this experience and definitely we will come back!

Surprisingly clean, well-designed rooms for the price — a truly great value. The real gem is Sisi himself, who has been a tour guide for 25+ years and will help you do anything you want to (but is also respectful if you just want to chill on the beach!)

I had a great stay at Makai Surf House. The staff were kind and helpful, always around if you needed anything but never overbearing. The location is ideal — close to the beach but still quiet and peaceful. The house and garden are really well kept, with a calm, relaxed atmosphere. I also met some genuinely nice people while I was there, which made the experience even better. Would happily come back.

This hotel is, with no doubt, the best hotel in Hikkaduwa (and probably in Sri Lanka) The location is perfect, the rooms are amazing (well organised, incredible views, all the amenities you can need, soft towels, good coffee and tea…), the breakfast is the best one we have had in Sri Lanka (awesome!!!), the pool is fantastic and the staff is the best that the hotel keeps…thanks to Franzi for all the recommendations, attentions and care ❤️). We really didn’t want to come back home 🥹. The relation quality-price can’t be better and I do not understand yet why the hotel just keeps 5 stars! Should be at least 6! Really, the best place in Sri Lanka for relaxing, surfing or enjoying the sun. We will be back as soon as we can Thanks!!!

Ashan Has a beautiful property which is well maintained. The property is family run and were very responsive to any of our needs Rooms were squeaky clean with a wonderful open view bathroom. We were also provided a tasty breakfast. Would recommend 100 percent

There are only 6 rooms so it’s very peaceful. We had a room on the first floor with fabulous sea and beach views. All of the rooms have these views. The sunsets are amazing! The rooms, bathrooms and balconies are extremely spacious and very comfortable as well as spotlessly clean. The owner is Austrian which may account for the very high standards of fittings and no decor. The pool and gardens are lovely with plenty of du beds. The breakfast was excellent and the staff very friendly and efficient. It’s not it the town center but there are several beach restaurants within easy walking distance and it’s very easy and cheap to order a Tuk-Tuk via Uber, costing about €1,50 each way, to the town center. We very much recommend enjoyed our stay here and are quite certain that it is one of the nicest hotels in this area.
