A very nice and comfortable place to stay. A gem of a place very close to Batticaloa. We spent a few nights there. It was very nice. The staff there are also very nice. The plastic on the beach there really bothered us. We are just mentioning it here. It is not their fault. The municipal council there should take responsibility for this.

The owner and his brothers did everything to make our stay very enjoyable: They gave us fresh fruit juices at our day of departure when we didn't want breakfast in the early morning and they even grilled some fishes that we brought at no extra cost in addition to the dinner that we ordered. The rooms are clean and spacious and the 3 bungalows are in a small side street with a nice garden, so it's calm and green around. When the neighbour climbed his palm trees to collect coconuts, we also received fresh coconuts for free. The breakfast was rich and they also offered good dinner (a whole fish, prawns or crab). We took the fish for 13 EUR.

In literally 2 minutes you are in a nice and not crowded beach. Staff: nice, polite and helpful. The owner was even speaking Italian fluently and we really enjoyed talking with him and the staff. They even cooked a delicious local dinner for us. Room: big and clean, with a nice balcony from where you can see the sea.

Very nice homestay place, there are several rooms, shared living room, shared open air dinner place and big secured parking. Owners family is very nice and friendly it was very nice to speak with. Our room was comfortable, bed was comfortable too, bathroom was big and clean(everything was perfectly clean). Very good air condition in the room. And good sound isolation. We sleept very well here. We ordered dinner and breakfast here - all was tasty.

We spent 5 nights at this beautiful remote hotel on the beach. Loved it all. The seafood is excellent. Humberto, the GM, sourced some giant scampi for me - it was delicious. Special thanks to Namal for taking such good care of us. An added bonus is watching the local fisherman bring in their nets in the morning. if you are looking for peace and quiet in a luxurious setting - this place is for you!

The eco-friendly Maalu Maalu Resort & Spa - Thema Collection sits on the sandy shores of Passekudah Bay on the east coast of Sri Lanka. The hotel welcomes all new guests with flower necklaces and cool fruit drinks. The breakfast buffet options are numerous. We ordered a la carte lunch & dinner, and the food was always exceptional. (Note, the first night we wanted something that they didn’t have but they ordered it for the second night.) The room was ok, but all rooms come with a comfortable balcony to make up for what the room lacks. Also, the bathroom is about the same size as the room. The beach and the ocean are by far the main reason to come here. The warm ocean water is unparalleled and the hotel staff do a wonderful job keeping their section of the beach clean. The pool area is also nice, but we came for the beach and spent most of our time there. The kid space is lacking, but that’s ok as long as you aren’t there when it rains. Lastly, all the staff we encountered were professional. They helped arrange our departure taxi which actually was rather reasonably priced; meaning same price everyone seems to charge tourists 200 rupees per kilometer (rather than what locals pay which is like 120-150). Overall, I highly recommend staying here.
