We soon realized that we came from sunny Singapore and the family chatted comfortably. The place is very clean and amenities well planned and detailed. Situated in Yuzawa, 2.5 km from Naeba Ski Resort, Sundance Resort Naeba features accommodation with a shared lounge, free private parking, a terrace and ski-to-door access. 23 km from Gala Yuzawa Snow Resort and 30 km from Maiko Snow Resort, the hotel offers ski storage space. The accommodation provides a shared kitchen and luggage storage space for guests. We stayed here with our family during a two-week road trip around Japan, starting in Tokyo and staying in six different places along the way. Out of all the accommodations we booked, Sundance Resort Naeba was our clear favorite by a huge margin. The unit is incredibly spacious, with a stunning two-story window overlooking the snow-covered mountains. When it snows, it genuinely feels like you’re looking out at a giant snow globe. The apartment had far more space than our family of three needed, featuring a master bedroom on the second floor, another bedroom on the first floor, and two beds in each room. Cleanliness was not an issue at all, the place was spotless. It’s also very well equipped, with a pantry, dining table, heated floors, two toilets (each with its own bathtub), and a laundry room on the first floor. Another highlight was the privacy: the building is divided into north and south wings, with only one unit per floor, making the stay feel very exclusive and peaceful. At night, the resort was wonderfully quiet and serene, likely because we were there at the very start of the ski season, before the crowds arrived and while many nearby businesses were still closed. The staff were exceptional, always friendly, warm, and attentive. They even spoiled my wife with sweets and snacks throughout our stay. As a bonus, our booking included a delightful breakfast each morning. I can’t recommend this place highly enough. It was truly a fantastic and memorable stay Oh yeah there's free parking too for those driving up.

Located in Sado, ホステルたつみや features a garden, shared lounge, terrace, and free WiFi. Free private parking is available and the hostel also features bike hire for guests who want to explore the surrounding area. Very new and clean, dorm bed was comfortable and warm. Staff spoke some English and were super friendly. They provided parking at the cafe across the street when I told them I was renting a scooter. You can use the kitchen to store food in the fridge and prepare meals - cutlery and pots/pans are included. The hostel is a 30 minute bus ride from Ryotsu Port and is walking distance to a supermarket and the beach.

Boasting river views, Noka Minshuku Sanzen provides accommodation with balcony, around 24 km from Gala Yuzawa Snow Resort. It is situated 47 km from Naeba Ski Resort and offers luggage storage space. The farm stay features rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. This quirky house has been lovingly restored and updated by Nobu and her family who live next door. The amount and types of wood used in the construction of the house is incredible, from the wooden staircase and hand-crafted hand rail, to the curved wooden bathroom, giving the feel that you are inside a barrel. It includes the washing machine, a huge shower room and separate, very snazzy toilet. With all mod cons, we had a very comfortable week here. Even the futons were OK for this old, unaccustomed body. The bedroom is covered in beautiful, traditional tatami. The 3rd floor loft has a hammock and chairs with lovely views of the countryside, which you can also enjoy from the dining table downstairs. The kitchen is well equipped and basic condiments are provided (oil etc), so it was easy to self cater. The house has air conditioners upstairs and down as well as kerosene heaters so we were very cosy despite record amounts of snow. We parked directly out front and the watering hose did a good job keep the area clear of snow. The supplied snow shovel and brush were a life saver. Our host family were sweet, taking time to ensure we understood all the facilities and gave us gifts of local food.

Ideally set in the Ikenotaira Onsen district of Myoko, Yado Brodiaea is situated 31 km from Zenkoji Temple, 33 km from Nagano Station and 43 km from Suzaka City Zoo. This bed and breakfast features free private parking, luggage storage space and free WiFi. Lake Nojiri is 7.8 km away and Togakushi Shrine is 27 km from the bed and breakfast. The personal was super kind and always happy to help. Recomend taking their offer for a ride to places. Fair price and very easy.

Situated in Myoko, 31 km from Zenkoji Temple and 33 km from Nagano Station, Pension Moomin Papa features accommodation with free WiFi, air conditioning, a garden and a shared lounge. The accommodation has a spa bath. Classic charming pension with the most friendly owners! The private onsen across the street is incredible, I had it to myself every night, and there is an option for breakfast. The room was perfect for two of us, and Papa was so kind to drive us to and from the Myokokogen station and the mountains, and also on some errands which was so kind. It feels like you are stepping into a place that can’t be created, a piece of personality.

The property offers a free shuttle service. Free private parking is available on site. Hospitality by Satoshi san and his family. He is very helpful and the price to rent the ski gears is reasonable. He drove us to and fro to Gala Yuzawa Ski Resort during our 2 Nights 3 Days stay. Thank again Satoshi san.

Free WiFi is available throughout the property. The staff were super nice and helpful. They tried their best to help us if we have any questions.

Set in peaceful landscapes, Kogakuro offers pleasant Japanese-style rooms with plenty of natural light. It features indoor and outdoor hot springs, a library and a cosy lounge with a fireplace. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. We enjoyed our stay! Everything was excellent and Mieko assisted with whatever queries we had. The breakfast was very tasty, and the location was very convenient.
