Just 250 metres from Zenko-ji Temple, Matsuya Ryokan offers simple Japanese rooms with tatami-mat floors, a green-tea maker and an attached Western bathroom. The hotel features public baths. Ryokan is perfectly located, just next to the temple. The staff are welcoming and kind, helping with many things you didn't knew you needed help with. Food is delicious and atmosphere in Ryokan let's you feel like in Japan from the movies. Initially I thought it was pricey, however after the stay I'm disappointed of myself that I didn't book it for longer.

They also picked me up and brought me from the train station. The house is a traditional Showa era home with beautiful tatami flooring. They also gave me some great recommendations for places in Matsumoto. If you need to recharge this is a great place. They brought us bento boxes each day and graciously offered to give us rides to the train station on each day of our stay. The place is wonderful, has everything I could ask for right from laundry to a jacuzzi. Loved every bit of our stay and definitely coming back again

I didn't realize it at the time of booking, but the trail runs right through the campground. We had a lot of fun cooking dinner and breakfast. The setup makes it really convenient to just do the fun parts of cooking, and cleanup is really easy as well in the main lodge. The tents are very spacious and have heaters incase it gets cold at night. Additionally, our tent had a great view which overlooked the valley and mountains.
