Zapote Tree Inn is located less than 16 minutes from Flores' airport and 4 minutes away from Flores island by boat, located at a privileged point to appreciate sunsets and sunrises overlooking the island and the lake. Amazing place. Don’t be put off by the location - it’s super easy to take a boat to and from Flores Island, the boat costs just Q10 per person (US$1.50), there are loads of them, and they run all day until around 10pm at night. Zapote Inn itself is really lovely - lots of places to chill, they sell cold beer on the property for Q15, and offer great food at reasonable prices (we particularly enjoyed the typico breakfasts and the steamed fish dinner). The room was nicer than it looks in the photos, with the best beds we’ve had anywhere in Guatemala. The room had great aircon and was quiet at night. Another great part about this place is that it backs onto the rainforest. A short walk from the accom we saw howler monkeys climbing through the trees - an amazing sight! Not to mention the toucans and hummingbirds hanging about the property. The Tikal tour that Peter organised was great and good value. Peter was also able to organise a shuttle direct to Caye Caulker at a slightly cheaper price than is advertised online. We have already recommended this place to a few of our friends travelling in Guatemala and will continue to do so.

This modern hotel is situated right on Peten Itza Lake and offers free Wi-Fi and breakfast. We absolutely loved this property—it was the perfect place to stay during our trip! The views of the lake are breathtaking, and the tranquil atmosphere made our stay so enjoyable. One of the highlights was having access to water equipment like kayaks, which were included in the stay—such a great perk for exploring the lake. We were pleasantly surprised by the food, especially after reading some of the previous reviews. Out of curiosity, we spoke to the hotel staff about the feedback, and they mentioned they’ve been working hard to improve. It shows! The included breakfast was absolutely delicious and gave us the perfect start to our day. The staff were wonderful—always friendly and eager to help. Getting around the property was seamless, as we never had to wait for a golf cart to take us to our room. Overall, this property exceeded our expectations. From the stunning views to the thoughtful amenities and excellent service, it was a truly memorable experience. Highly recommend it!

Hotel exceeded our expectations and one of our best experiences. Amazing nature reserve hotel. All wood finish suites with huge balcony opening to the lake and surrounded by forest. High quality amenities, wonderful staff, amazing guest recognition, great food, flexible to our needs.

AC was a big plus. Room was spacious. They provide water that you can get refilled in the dining area. Friendly staff. They do money exchange there as well (same rate at Belize border). Great value for price. Lots of birds on property with walking trails.
