Steinenschanze Charming City & Garden Hotel is less than 5 minutes' walk from Basel's city centre and the university, close to historical buildings and the old town. The staff were excellent, they accommodated all our needs. The rooms are all modern and well equipped. You get a welcome drink. All went fine. We even extended our stay one more night.

The breakfast each morning was delicious, varied and nutritious. The B&B was secure and easily accessible using a swipe card. The area was very handy to the trams so getting around Basel was very easy.

Our room had several windows with a beautiful view of the Rhine River, which made the experience even more special. The breakfast was excellent, the hotel is beautiful and full of history, and the changing flower arrangements at the entrance were a lovely surprise, offering a different visual experience each day. The bar was outstanding, with a live pianist and a fantastic repertoire, creating a truly elegant atmosphere. Despite being one of the oldest hotels in Europe, the comfort and technology are exceptional — heated bathroom floors, automatic curtains, and even a TV that can be controlled from the bathtub. An extremely pleasant, elegant and unforgettable stay. Highly recommended.
