LOVED my time at Tamu Tamu hotel in Zanzibar. The location right next to Pwani Mchangani on the eastern coast was perfect - super quiet with not too many tourists and a nice village with a few restaurants nearby. We really preferred it to hectic Stone Town and touristy Nungwi Beach for example. The rooms were beautiful and clean, we really appreciated the attention room service put into making sure everything was neat when we got back from a daytrip. The pool area was beautiful too, we could have easily spent a whole week just lounging there. The food at the restaurant was great too, the breakfasts were copious with many options to choose from and the urojo (a local soup they made for us upon demand) was the most delicious thing I tasted on my trip to Tanzania. They also have a nice menu of snacks to enjoy poolside and a fantastic happy hour deal with very good cocktails. Finally, the staff, absolutely lovely, super helpful and always around in case we needed anything. I appreciated their help with transportation around the island and booking activities, like a spice tour and visit to Stone Town. Honestly for the price, this place is unbeatable. It's a boutique hotel where you're afforded more attention than in the 3 times more expensive large resorts more north. Thank you Tamu Tamu for a fantastic stay!

What an exceptional stay! We were mind blown by the beauty of the villa and the kindhearted staff, we could not have asked for anything else. There was someone at the property 24/7 to help you out. The breakfast was really nice and most importantly; you can buy beer from the host. Every little detail was thought about, all you have to do is relax and enjoy your holiday! 🩵

Absolutely wonderful. We fell in love with the apartment, the location and the people - Sonya, Dan, Bill and the girls that served breakfast and cleaned our apartment were so helpful and friendy and continually went the extra mile and genuinely wanted us to have a wonderful holiday and checked that we were comfortable and had everything we needed. They sorted the sim for us and when we forgot something after checking out sent a message to someone in the village to stop our taxi so we could turn round and collect it. The trip they arranged to mnemba Island was brilliant and when a Dhow trip we had arranged went pear shaped arranged another one whilst we were waiting at the beach in nungwi and really saved the day. The apartment and outside area were beautiful and kept spotless, they were very tastefully decorated with lots of reclaimed wood, lovely mature garden full of butterflies. The pool was lovely and warm and kept very clean and we had it to ourselves. We loved the local village with locals saying jambo as we walked through wanting nothing more than to be friendly. We got no hassle at all and the seafood in the local Mzuri restaurant was delicious. Security was great, the security guy turned the outside lights on each evening which was what he must have been doing when another reviewer was suspicious. The dog didn't wee on the patio like one reviewer said and there was no noise from villagers outside at night, just happy sounds of children playing during the day. All in all it was absolutely wonderful, we would return in a heartbeat and were so sad to leave. Don't hesitate in booking this wonderful haven, you won't regret it.

This house is one of the cleanest place I have ever been. The stuff were super kind and helpful. They were always around when you need. The house looks exactly what I it is on the picture. Basically couple of steps to the ocean, the sun rises view is astonishing. You have ac , hot water.. also communication is great. Thank you everyone for a great hosting.

Excellent place! Sonia and all her staff were so amazing, kind and helpful with good recommendations. Nothing was ever too much for them. The place they have is nice and quiet, definitely good if you would like to fully relax with a beautiful pool and a beach just around the corner with its own sun beds. If you are wondering to stay here, don’t hesitate as it is definitely worth a visit. So so beautiful! We’ll be back!

Place was really spotless, photos are accurate, beachfront as described, parking is provided on premises, there are deck chairs and an umbrella that are reserved just for you. We requested a slightly bigger portions for breakfast and the host kindly approved our request.

Good selection of breakfast, with different options to choose from. Both local dishes as well as well as vegetarian options on the menu. Fresh fruit and baked selection to have as well. Excellent room service in the morning and evenings to make you feel comfortable. The property has two pools as well which was perfect to take an evening dip in. The parking was a bonus as well.

The location is great, very quiet beach and no beach boys :) Our room was amazing, very big, on the second floor with a nice sea view . Breakfast is delicious , with chapati ( a home made flat bread from Zanzibar) , nice pancakes , fruit, fresh coffee, eggs …staff really nice , I forgot something in the room during check out and my away back to collect the luggage the cleaner reminde me and gave me back :) They have beach towels , swimming pool, free parking…
