The atmosphere and the service are wonderful. The lodge is built to allow you to immerse in the nature and green around, with natural materials, wonderful views of the lake and the gardens. The service was excellent - with extremely helpful staff who go above and beyond to make you feel relaxed and special on your vacation - notably, Celestin was consistently wonderful and obliging. All the food (and coffee) we tried was top notch. The massage was of very high quality - done in a beautiful atmosphere by truly a professional lady. Just a wonderful lodge, we had a great time - I run a hotel where I live and I really appreciate the attention to detail the management has poured into this.

Julienne has created a beautiful space in the main house, the gardens and the various bungalows. When we booked we chose Rutete mainly based on proximity to Akagera park, but Rutete is really worth a visit even without visiting the park. If you are visiting the park don't rush off, it's a lovely place to relax and enjoy the food from the garden, and hear the story of how Julienne built the place. She also helped us with getting a guide for the park, and our onward bus journey to Kigali. I would definitely recommend and come back if I am in Rwanda again.
