It was our second stay here. This time it was our base to visit surroundings: passadiços do Mondego (a boardwalk trail along the river Mondego, about 1h driving), historical village of Sortelia and 5 medieval villages of Sabugal. Location: A medieval village (XII century) located about 30km off the motorway. Definitely worth to divert, even for an overnight stop. A quiet, charming place. Hotel: an old building converted into a small hotel carefully finished with stone and wood and decorated with pieces of crochet, hand made by the owner. Room: Large and comfortable, wooden floor and furniture. It was cold at night, but when we came our rooms welcome us with warm, both literally and metaphorically . electric sockets: Available, the sockets near the bed occupied by a lamp lighting: good Bed: comfortable Bathroom: shower cabin large enough, regular electric socket available, heated. Breakfast: Excellent, large selection of food, very good quality and with different Portuguese specialties. Definitely the highlight of our stay. WiFi: strong signal, fast connection. Staff: excellent welcome, we have got a lot of hints about the vicinity. And explanation about strange wooden constructions used for bull fighting in a local style. Parking: free, front of the house.

Really beautiful houses, surrounded by a well preserved property, in a small and cosy village. The house was extremely clean, was warm when we checked in, and the host was super friendly. We really enjoyed our stay, and despite the rain, we were able to visit the surroundings, and gave a pleasant walk to the nearby river and beach facilities through the nature paths.

Breakfast was awesome and location was great. We were able to walk to a lovely location for a great pizza. We didn’t realize we were within a Castillo until we walked to explore. Pretty cool! I would recommend this stay. Wish we had had more time to explore. Our host gave us some good suggestions for sights.

Located in a rural village full of heart and soul. Located between Almeida and Guarda which makes it the perfect rest stop. The home still has it’s old charm mixed with modern touches. It’s very spacious with a beautiful terrace and everything you need for a comfortable stay. The host was very responsive and provided detailed check in information. The location was easy to find.
