Number one, super service minded personnel, big smiles, always positive, made us feel very welcome even when we arrived just past midnight. Excellent breakfast, and an absolutely adoring hotel, that has kept a lot of interior from it's original 1926 opening. Very easy parking right outside, bautiful location by the river going into the fjord under the steep mountains.

We were just overwhelmed by the hospitality we got from Sigurd and Heidi! You can really feel all the hard work that went into building such a unique place and Sigurd has given very interesting insights into the story of Flatheim. We enjoyed a really delicious dinner in a cozy, old hut. Especially all the different tasty local food and drinks were a highlight, and also getting to taste the Viking cheese for breakfast (gamlaost). And on top of that being located in a remote, beautiful landscape.. We couldn't have imagined a better place and would have chosen a longer stay! An excellent location on a bank of a roaring Gaula river with beautiful cascades (Likholefossen is only 1,5 km-s away), nice views of mountains all around, several hiking trails from short to longer ones. There's even an almost private secret natural swimming pool 100 meters upstream from the house. Lots of privacy. The house has everything you need except wifi. Helpful host. This was geographically the best-positioned house we rented on our 10 days long trip in Norway.

Good basic room. Nothing is open in the evening or morning and you let yourself in via a code. But the room was comfy, decent space and all you need for a night. Close to Spar and Bistro that is open in the evening. It was also very quiet with underfloor heating in the bathroom. Pound for pound it is decent for Norway. I'll stay again if I'm in the area.

This family-run hotel is in Balestrand, by the Sogne Fjord. It has a large garden, a private sauna and beach, and panoramic fjord views. Each guest room includes a private bathroom.

We must admit we were a little worried about this hotel after having read some of the reviews, but we were extremely impressed with our stay. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. The shower room was simple, but it was perfectly clean and there was always plenty of hot water. The big " plus" for the hotel was the whole atmosphere the owners and staff have created - friendly and welcoming. The entrance , lounge and dining areas are stripped back and simple but it all works well. Breakfast service was a surprise ( as we thought there was no breakfast) - coffee and fresh, warm croissants - and one of the best views down the Fjord in Balestrand - what's not to like?

Overlooking the Sogne Fjord, Midtnes Hotel is in Balestrand. It offers free Wi-Fi and parking and a private pier for boats and swimming. Dragsvik Ferry Terminal is 10 minutes’ drive away.

The owner is very personable and ready to answer questions or just chat. The hotel is a bit like a bed and breakfast, very cozy and relaxed vibe. It also has its own little bathing spot on the water, and really a very nice stay at a locally-owned small hotel.
