A very beautiful villa that has been renovated to an exceptionally high standard. We ended up staying here for a week because it was such a wonderful place to relax. The location is excellent for exploring the local area which is very beautiful and a welcome change of pace to the south of the island. We have been in Sri Lanka for 3 months and this was definitely the best accommodation we stayed at. We got regular messages from the host Kam checking everything was ok and if we needed anything. If your looking at exploring the Jaffna peninsula, I would highly recommend staying here.

The house owner Mr Biren Mahendran is very cooperative when booking the house. And the location is very peaceful, beautiful and secure. Well sufficient for a family or a group. Rooms are well cleaned and furniture are modern. Having a modern kitchen with all the necessary equipment. Really enjoyed the stay. The caretaker Mr Kerthi was very much helpful and he's fluent in Sinhala and English. Worth the money. Located in 550m away from Jaffna-KKS road and 9.5 Km away from Jaffna.

Great location, just off the road making it very peaceful at night. Good air con and fan. Great size room with balcony overlooking the garden and plantation. Good host and Sri Lankan breakfast. They also do laundry, which was a god sent in a city with no laundrettes.

We loved everything about our stay. The room was so nice and clean. The breakfast was delicious and we could choose exactly what we wanted to eat the day before. The staff was kind and helpful. It's an old house with a gentle renovation so the spirit of the history was preserved in a beautiful way. All in all we had a wonderful time at Thambu Illam.

Haran the manager and all of the staff were wonderful. Haran went above and beyond our expectations, he was very thoughtful and helpful in getting us everything we needed to feel at home. We would recommend this place to anyone who's looking for a place to stay in Jaffna.

We have spent 4 days here, and this place felt like home. Nice and confy room, AC working great, hot shower, the best Wifi in our time in Sri Lanka. Delicious homemade breakfast. Beatiful garden. Super clean. But the best is the host: Allen is just amazing! He was very kind, thoughful, gave all the tips and information, and we still got the chance to talk, share a bit of our experiences. This place is so amazing, spacious, clean and quiet, close to Jaffna airport. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, I felt right at home. Special mention to Dillakshi, Prasanna, Prinsen, Dineshan, Saranya who helped us with what dishes to try, what places to see etc. The Manager Rushan was equally helpful and offered to help us book another stay on our return to Jaffna from Trincomalee. And the food was delicious! Thank you Thinnai for a thoroughly enjoyable stay, we are certainly coming back! :-)

The place is very beautiful and in a calm setting. Beautiful big room with view of the pool. Very clean and luxurious bathroom. Really felt like a treat to be here. And on too of that the staff was extremely kind and friendly, they went above and beyond to care for my needs and safety. Food was also very traditional and tasty.
