Loved our stay!!! The hosts are such beautiful people. Ensured our stay was comfortable and cooked delicious meals. They also organised activities around Ella for us to go to. Drove us around in their tuktuk. The room itself is phenomenal. Overlooking the nine arch bridge. Very quiet and beautiful. Highly recommend staying here. Beautiful home and beautiful people!! Can highly recommend this place! Sri Lankan people are friendly, but this is next level. Super friendly host and his family. The view from our reading nook is terrific, better than the nine arches itself. It’s a spacious room, with a Beamer to watch TV during the rain, and very good bathroom. Part of their service is the outstanding breakfast, served one level below, looking out over the valley. It may be located a bit further from the city center, but they offered to drive us anywhere any time with the TukTuk for low rates, did our laundry, and arranged our taxi for tomorrow for a price we couldn’t arrange for ourselves. Long story short, I highly recommend this place!

This was one of my favourite accommodations in Sri Lanka. The room and the balcony were very beautiful and comfortable. But the best part was the incredibly nice and thoughtful hosts, who were always available to help and make sure the stay is as comfortable as possible. And not to forget the amazing food! Breakfast was massive and delicious, and I had one of my best meals in Sri Lanka for dinner. It is located right on the main road, which makes it very accessible, but you can hear the vehicles passing. It is about 20min walk or short Tuktuk (which the hosts will be happy to help organize) to the center. I would stay again if I ever come back!

Everything was very clean. We had hot water, toilet paper, soap, and good wifi. The breakfast was very delicious and every day we had something different. The family was welcoming and helped us in every possible way when we asked. It is literally in the middle of nature, very quiet, green, and you can enjoy the sound of birds,insects. Highly recommend Mountain Shack if you want a relaxing, quiet stay in Ella!

Serene environment, top quality service from the lovely owner, the room was immaculate with everything we needed and very picturesque. The host even provided us with tea, water and laundry service. Possibly the best place we’ve stayed in Sri Lanka, and do not be put off by the negative reviews regarding the driveway, it is easy via Tuktuk and worth it for the views and privacy. Their tuktuk shuttle is free and available 24/7 - thank you again for a wonderful stay ❤️ the best place to eat is Ella Siyapatha Hut Restaurant. This was the most authentic meal we had that was cooked by the gorgeous family. Truly an amazing experience if you’re in Zella

Delicious breakfast. Friendly host. Free parking. Plenty of birds and chipmunks around. Relatively calm area. Good value for money. Emergency lamp offered when short electricity loss occured (we learned that electricity outages are common in Sri Lanka).

The place is clean, the room is quite big compared to other places of similar price, they serve you breakfast at the room. Place is only 600m from the crowded village center. Perfect location. And they have a small parking lot too. Best part, the hosts. They help us to arrange a jeep safari for the next day in Yala National Park.

Clean property. Large room with balcony. Delicious breakfast which staff deliver to your room in the morning. Secure parking. Great location just a few minutes walk from the centre of Ella where there are bars/restaurants. Staff were attentive, helpful and polite. Monkeys!
