Firstly, wow! The drive up to the house was absolutely beautiful and set the tone for a wonderful stay. From the moment we arrived, the home felt incredibly cozy and welcoming—truly like a home away from home. The river running alongside the property added to the peaceful atmosphere and offered stunning, tranquil views. The hosts were absolutely lovely and went above and beyond by preparing a delicious home-cooked meal for our family upon arrival. The fireplace was already lit, creating a warm and inviting space, and the outdoor spa was hot and ready for us to enjoy. We were lucky enough to experience snowfall on our second day, which made the stay feel truly magical. I cannot recommend this home highly enough and would absolutely suggest it to anyone looking for a memorable and relaxing family getaway.

Great location. Near to the station and places of interest. Staff is knowledgeable and communicate well in English, with an international line up of front desk staff. Spacious room and I like the wood craft and furniture mix. Not least, adjacent to one of the best hida beef restaurant in Takayama.

Really enjoyed my stay at the stylish Hotel Wood. Excellent location close to everything - the old part of town and even the station. The staff were over and above friendly and helpful, they even arranged for a lift to the station when I had to leave early after a snowstorm. The room is very stylishly decorated and comfortable. The bed was on the harder side but was surprisingly comfortable. It was very clean. The central sitting area with free beer and sake in the evening was a nice touch for relaxation. The onsen was really superb. Immaculate and very relaxing. The Japanese breakfast was delicious. Good value for money Would definitely stay here again.

Effective October 1, 2025, a lodging tax will be introduced by ordinance of Takayama City. In addition to the room charge, 100 yen per person per day will be charged.

Loved it all! Pretty little guesthouse with an amazing decor and plenty of charming commodities in the common areas - you can even play Super Mario World 3 :) Super nice and helpful staff, clean tatami room with futons and a decent location, 8 minutes away from the train station. No complaints!

From you enter the reception you are met with a beautiful traditional Japanese interier, it is very well done. Everyone there were very polite and respectful, from staff to other guests. We three women arrived around 16, were able to select a cute yukata each we wore as much as possible for our one night stay, and were shown our room which were as big as a small apartment. We choose to go directly to the onsen which had just opened for the afternoon and had the place for ourselves. Very well stocked with brushes, hairties, lotions, everything free to use! the rooms were nice and comfortable, there was a beautiful tea set for us to use so we had a tea party in our yukatas, before dinner. We had paid for the dinner which was serving after serving of small dishes and a particularly tasty hida beef with miso dish. The beds and shower were great, nothing to complain about there, we had the traditional breakfast the day after with a self serve bar of drinks such as tea, coffee, juice and milk. Oh and we also went down to the onsen before breakfast and were once again alone to relax and take our time. It was probably the most expensive stay we have included on our trip but it was also by far the best experience we have had, and can recommend anyone to try it even just for a night like us, if not more ☺️

Brand new hotel, very well equipped. Room was spacious and the onsen on the top floor was great. Breakfast had very good choices. Location is extremely convenient, just 5 minutes walk from the JR station, and 10 minutes walk to the historical part of town. We had absolutely nothing to complain about.
