This was an outstanding experience. The chief priest and his family are amazing. The rooms are big and spacious, the food is very good. Minobu as an area is so beautiful, with large mountains covered with green cedartrees and nestled in between are all the important temples. The chief priest did an astounishing work in introducing us to the buddhist practices. The walk to the morning prayer, 04:45 in the morning is very very rewarding.

Situated just steps away from JR Shimobe Onsen Station, this hotel boasts various natural hot spring baths that date back 2000 years.

As an European we loved Shimobe Hotel. We visited hotel to feel like Japanese people during vacation, and it was brilliant. We could dip our feet in hot water watching koi fish pool, we were invited to mash rice to make rice cakes during evening animations, and there is beautiful stone outdoor onsen. Everything was far beyond our expectations, and I recommend Shimobe Hotel to everyone seeking calmness, relax and friendly atmosphere in traditional Japanese style

Such an amazing stay! The place is a LOT more remote than I thought, because I didn't check the map properly, but it was an amazing, if unexpected, escape from the city. Despite our poor planning, the hosts went above and beyond to ensure we got everything we needed. The room and facilities were beautiful and immaculate! The landscape and environment were unbeatable! We saw monkeys! Just wild! By the side of the road! Treat yourself to an ebike ride around the town and check out the fishing pond that cooks the fish for you (kunugi fish farm) and the incomparable cafe (古家cafe自然坊), the food was delicious and wildly affordable and the staff unbelievably welcoming. Best accidental trip to rural Japan I can imagine taking!! Thank you so much Hana and family ❤️❤️❤️

We had such a great time at this beautiful house! It’s been recently renovated with lots of care and attention to detail. The location is perfect , just outside Fujinomiya and super close to the waterfalls. The owners are really lovely; they even took us for a walk and showed us around. The place is spotless, the beds are comfy, and the floors are beautiful. If you’re coming by car, it’s ideal , there’s parking right on the property, it’s peaceful at night, and the views of Fujinomiya are amazing.

+ great location with Mt. Fuji view + whole building only for your needs + local feeling + great host We were very lucky to choose this accommodation! The host was extremely kind, showing us a large building with a spacious floor, hammocks to relax in, and a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji (weather permitting). He also prepared a cozy BBQ area with lights and treated us to delicious homemade takoyaki cooked over the fire. A truly great experience! Don’t expect luxury, but you’ll find a warm, local atmosphere in beautiful surroundings.
