The owners are such a nice couple, very kind. We really enjoyed our days at hostel+cafe. The place is beautiful, very clean and confortable. The food was very tasty, Japanese traditional breakfast. We strongly recommend it.

Stunning! Well thought out private dwelling, with juliet balcony where your bed is. Little kitchenette, with fridge. The bathroom is big and well planned out. There is a wood burning stove in the corner of the room so you can make it warm and cosy (there is also a heater/ac/fan, for all temps!). We were only there one night and paid to have an evening meal there. Four courses cooked by the owner, all locally sourced, delicious! Highly recommend this place. I wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the hiking in the nearby national park.

We were slightly sceptical about this place as it only had two reviews, but we are so glad we booked. This was a great guesthouse with traditional Japanese rooms in a gorgeous village. The host was incredibly helpful (even walking us to a local restaurant to make sure we got a space as everywhere was fully booked). We felt incredibly welcome, had comfy beds, a lovely room, and everything we needed.

The cottages are quite basic, but nice old Japanese style and the view from the terrace is amazing. The host also arranged me a brand new electric mountain bike which worked very well for me to see the area around, such as Aso volcano and Takachiho gorge. The WiFi worked like a charm. Definitely recommend!

Our stay at this incredible Japanese house was nothing short of a dream. This beautifully renovated traditional home, built by the owner's ancestors probably 150 years ago and renovated thoughtfully and lovingly by the owner recently. It offers lovely gardens and breathtaking views of Mount Aso and is meticulously maintained to the highest standards. Each room exudes the charm and character of a traditional Japanese palace, while also providing all modern amenities.The onsen is an indulgent treat, and the professional kitchen, sound and home cinema systems, barbecue house, and karaoke house added to the exceptional experience. We opted for the barbecue on two of our three nights, and the food was world-class, prepared with love and care by the owner, his wife, and the property manager.We felt like we were in a dream and wished we could have stayed much longer. Highly recommended for an unforgettable stay! Yoshio, Sumie, and Yuji you are the best!
