Amazing experience It is our first trip to Japan and our hosts were so kind and hospitable that we felt truly welcome. We received a lot of valuable information and suggestions. We made fresh eggs PASTA (busiate, maccheroncini, farfalle orecchiette ecc) together and spent a very pleasant time whith them and their feiends. This was a very nice change from the urban hotels during our travels around Japan. The proprietress is very charming and the breakfast prepared for us was very intricate with many Japanese foods. Sleeping and bathing traditional Japanese style is also something worth experiencing. To get there from Nara, take the train from Kintetsu Nara to Ikoma station where you can take the tramway up. You can just as quickly reach Ikoma station from Osaka. We visited in September and the last tram up was at 11pm. There was a restaurant open near the ryokan until 10pm (Indonesian). And if you are able to do some stairs, I highly recommend a visit in the morning to the temple complex above the ryokan. Keep following the steps above the first temples and you will find yourself on a truly magical path.

Homemade breakfast was tasty and had a nice presentation. The interior was spacious, yet cozy. My single room had a lovely traditional style with a cathedral shaped ceiling and two windows. I could adjust the brightness of the lights. The toilet and shower was outside of the room, but it was nice and clean. The bathroom had a separate shower area and bathtub onsen. The staff was very hospitable and helpful during my stay. I didn't speak or understand much Japanese, so they used a device to translate their response to me. They alsobwent out of their way to help me find my phone, which I appreciated very much!

This is a fantastic place if you want to take some time to relax and take it slow, outside of the busy parts of Osaka. The best part our experience were the hosts, who were a lovely couple, very eager to help with anything, from restaurant recommendations to a lift to a train station. The second best part were the baths - it may seem weird at first that there are no bathrooms inside rooms (except for a sink), but that incentivises the use of the baths, which are for private use and were truly a highlight.
