A quiet, peaceful little house set amongst rice fields in the village of Chikatsuyu. We arrived in the village a little earlier than expected and ran into the owner, Shino, in the street. The house is a short walk away from the mean street, set amongst rice fields. Small but comfortable, and being a small village, everything is close. Of note, it’s a 10 minute walk to some shops (with bakery and supermarket) and in town there is the excellent cafe run by Shino herself and some great coffee shops. We got the full meal package and Shino’s dinner was excellent and we had breakfast the next morning in her charming shop. The bento lunches provided were perfect for the trail.

Excellent staff with amazing service. They were super helpful! The room is well decorated, although a bit aged, with nice view, and the onsen was a plus. The food was great as well! It was a great experience, wish we could come back again.

The host was so kind and accommodating! I arrived very early and she still allowed me to check in to my room. Despite limited english she made effort to use phone to translate. Bento dinner was lovely. Highly recommend.

We stayed one night in connection with hiking the Kumano-Kodo trail. The house was both large and cozy and equipped with everything we needed. Shino is such a kind and helpful host. We also requested breakfast, lunch and dinner, and everything was delicious. Overall a wonderful experience, and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

The whole house was arranged in an excellent and thought out manner. Cleanliness was outstanding. Entering was extremely simple. The kitchen was well equipped. My wife and I loved staying there. If you are walking the Kumano Kodo it is important to be aware that this place is a good 45 min steep hike away from the main path. While the hike is mostly on a road, it is a small one with very little traffic and local drivers are very mindful of hikers. There is a good supermarket about 5 min away walking distance.

We stayed here on the Kumano kodo trek. The location is less than a km from the path so it's easy to find. It was exceptional with lots of touches that made it really comfortable after a day of hiking. The deck is great for an afternoon in the sun. Place was very clean, with shampoo, towels and even snacks provided. We almost didn't want to leave. The owner was available via message to help with anything.
