Lovely family, very friendly, and made a special effort to celebrate Christmas Day with us. Also made a huge effort to get us fishing when their friends’ plan changed and he couldn’t take us - they went to many shops to buy hooks, and made rods out of wood - it was amazing fun and they really made us get the most out of Munroe island.

Ideal location at Munroe Island! Beautiful stay in front of the backwaters, where you can also take a refreshing swim after a day in the hot sun. The Island is easily walkable, and the hotel is also close to center with shops and tuktuks. The staff was excellent and made us feel at home and helped us organise a magical sunset canoe ride as well as a taxi to Varkala, both for very reasonable prices! The cottage was very cozy and the whole property had a lot of beautiful small touches that made this an ideal and memorable stay at Munroe Island. Breakfast was filling and dinner was tasty as well, you'll have a candlelight dinner which was very romantic and beautiful setting!

I am going to echo what everyone else has said, Appu’s place is in the perfect location. The property itself is immaculate and super clean with some books to browse and a lovely verandah to sit on. The food was delicious . I had breakfasts and dinner all three days, every single meal was different and absolutely gorgeous. I’m vegan and preparing food for me was done with thoughtfulness and no fuss. Appu and his family were so friendly and helpful without ever being pushy. I went on a stunning sunrise boat trip, hired a bike, explored the area, and just had the most relaxing time. I couldn’t have asked for a better stay and would 100% recommend Villagio Homey.
