I had an incredible experience at the Doune Braes Hotel. The owner, Eileen, is the epitome of gracious hospitality. She and her staff offered great care in serving all their guests! The chef and dining room staff went out of their way to accommodate my special food needs. I felt like I had a personal chef and staff! The food was amazing and the staff graciously attentive. The room was perfect for spreading out and planning my ancestral journey. Eileen provided me with some resources for my journey. All in all an amazing experience. Home away from home. If you are on the Isle of Lewis - stay here! It is beautifully centrally located to be able to easily access all points in Harris and Lewis.

Very lovely seapods where you can drift to sleep to the sound of the waves against the shore and cliffside, and see wildlife like deer right at your doorstep (if you’re lucky). The seapod had everything we needed and was so cosy. There was a very strong sense of community where ingredients for dinner were sourced from the island itself, with some grown at their own croft, and others like scallops handpicked in partnership with the local divers - therefore all very fresh. The best part of our stay was, without a shadow of doubt, Sarah - the most friendly, helpful, funny host. She made us feel so welcome from the moment we stepped into the dining area, shared with us so much knowledge and tidbits about the island, and when I stupidly left some personal items back at the property, she was so responsive, assuring and meticulous to get them back safely to me. The experience staying with SEAcroft was sublime, and worth every penny and car mileage.

Staying at the Sea Pods was nothing short of magical! ✨ From the moment we arrived, we could see how well-maintained and thoughtfully designed everything was. What truly amazed us was the host’s (Grantt and Russell) effort in adding those little personal touches that made the place feel so unique and welcoming. Attention to detail. Everything appeared new, clean and neat as a pin. Marie left a very generous welcome hamper for us ( fresh eggs, butter, cheese, chocolates, fruit, wine, local newspaper) which was quite a surprise. Loved the location which made it easy for us the explore the North of Isle of Skye, and all the points of interest associated with its history. Thankyou for your warm welcome Marie, and for your great communication leading up to our stay.. Knowing we were staying on the property where at least 3 generations of the same family had lived made it very memorable.
