Such a fantastic taste of paradise. Everything at subtropica is done with love and skill. The breakfasts are superb, the pool is crystal clean and perfect temperature, the grounds are gorgeous with healthy beautiful plants growing everywhere. We were lucky enough to meet the owner Antonio, who helped us fulfill all our plans in mindo! Thank you!

I echo all these superb reviews on here about the host, German. He was truly exceptional and such a gentleman. He was friendly, attentive, informative and available to help. He kept me informed when he was going to be unavailable and spent time explaining things to me with my limited Spanish skills. I spent some time trying to spot a toucan and German spotted one within five minutes of asking him. He even took a bug out of my room for me (Gracias, German!). Great location in the middle of the forest, surrounding by raw beauty and birds flying all around you. It is also within walking distance of the Tarabita cable car and next to the Tangeras reserve. A pair of binoculars and a telescope are also available along with filtered water, hot water and a range of herbal teas. Rooms were basic but comfortable, great value for money and small discount offered with extended stay, laundry service (washing machine and dryer) also available for a fair fee. I’m very grateful for this truly memorable stay!

The hotel is new, modern and well equipped. Delicious breakfast with low cost. The staff provides 24 hours good services and very friendly. It has its own private parking and safe. It's the best hotel in Mindo that we have visited.
