We absolutely loved everything about this peaceful ryokan—the beautiful grounds, the delicious Kaiseki meals, the relaxing onsens (both private and public), the clean and comfortable room, and the incredibly kind staff. A standout feature was the private dining room assigned to each guest room, which added an extra touch of exclusivity and charm.

The outside onsen was so beautiful, clean and relaxing (I went twice and was alone). The food was amazing and the room with private onsen was so cozy. The garden is so pretty and there were many corners just to quietly seat around. Also, they offered transportation to the bus station both ways. It is absolutely recommended!!

Situated in the centre of the Kurokawa Onsen Area and boasting a total of 8 indoor/outdoor hot spring baths, Nanjoen offers traditional Japanese-style accommodation with tatami (woven-straw) flooring and futon bedding. THis was my first stay in a Ryokan and it did not disappoint. THe whole experience was magical - the room, the view over the hills, forest and town, the baths. The meals were excellent - two different breakfasts and and we took to the opportunity to have the Kaiseki dinners - an amazing assortment of tastes and textures. Kurokawa is a magical town that is wonderful to walk aroundand we took the opportunity to get an Onsen passport to try a few of the other baths. THe parking is easy. THe staff were excellent and patiently helped us understand the way to to enjoy a Ryokan
