The room was huge by Japanese standards. They have both traditional rooms and more "modern" rooms with the ryokan look but typical double beds as you may expect in a more regular hotel. Free onsen on the premises (even some private for a small fee) that were very enjoyable. The staff was very friendly and really helpful (special mention to Chihiro for her kindness). The kaiseki dinner was delicious, a true gem.

A fantastic stay in a beautiful ryokan. We loved every minute of it: the views into the sculptured garden, the spacious and beautifully designed room, the bath, the food, the hospitality. With just a few steps from the hotel, you access the Unzen jigoku geothermal fields.

Great location in a small city. Big comfortable beds and room. The owner is a guide and knows the area well and has great advise on things to do. Got a ticket for a local small onsen which was lovely, super hot but great for winter. Recommend staying a couple of nights to really expire the region.

I enjoyed talking to the staff and the owners. The decor is beautiful, the rooms are extremely clean and comfortable, and the self-cooking facilities are convenient and clean.

A beautiful busride from Nagasaki brought us to Unzen. A few steps from the busstop is the lovely old Ryokan. The location is perfect for the visit of the hot spring boardwalk (beautiful sight also at night), restaurants and the only grocery, departure for walks. Supper is an impressive and delicious 19 items affair. Our tatami room was spacious and beautiful, the futon made up in traditional style. Fresh yukatas (cotton "kimono") and towels daily. A good indoor and outdoor bath at the ryokan. We loved the experience and will gladly come back. Maybe in winter or when the many azalea are blooming
