We have never experienced this kind of luxury in our lives….. this place and environment totally blew our minds! We had te luxury to stay in the villa, and exceeded all our expectations. The views, the pool, the sauna, the hotspring tub, the fireplace, the BBQ… it was more than enough to really end our holiday totally relaxed! We were supposed to go to Tokyo the last 3 days of our holiday, but we where glad that we canceled that, and went to Shikuoka instead! The falls and wasabi fields and hikes nearby were great excursions, and then come back to the villa was a real dream! Also there were no other guests, so we had the whole place for ourselves…. Blessed🙏🏻 greets from oranda (the Netherlands)

Hoshi Meguri is an wonderful traditional hostel. The room was beautiful and spacious. The futon were extremely comfortable, even for a Westerner ! And the three private onsens are amazing to unwind Yurie & her husband were amazing hosts, kind, discreet yet really friendly. They prepared delicious and refined meals, brought up fresh ice tea regularly and kept my room always tidy. They were of good advice on what to do around. They offered a couple times to drive me to the train station and were of great help when a typhoon hit and I had to change all my plans. It’s definitely one of my best stays of all my travels in Japan. I hope to come back one day if I travel around Shimoda again!

We liked so many things about this sweet little place. Firstly, though just a few meters from the beach, but it's just enough off the main road that it was quiet. The outdoor onsen was a real treat, and we could even hear the waves from there. The staff was kind and communicative, even when we had to use translation devices, and graciously waited up for us, in spite of our late arrival time. The breakfast to-go was perfect. The room was comfortable, the price was right.... We appreciated everything there. We would definitely stay there again!

An absolutely stunning experience! All the hotel staff were extremely friendly and enthusiastic, behaving like hosts welcoming distinguished guests. Even though we could only communicate in English with difficulty, they made great efforts to overcome this barrier and were incredibly patient.The dining experience at the hotel was fantastic, with flavors and dishes that were truly impressive. Every guest dines in a private room.The inn is built around a pond and gardens, a two-story wooden structure that is also very quiet. The rooms include a living room, bedroom, bathroom, shower room, and a balcony—plenty of space even for a family of four without feeling crowded.The hotel also provides shuttle service to and from Shimoda. Despite the language barrier, the driver was very patient with family members who were unexpectedly delayed and couldn't arrive on time.

We love the room and the garden with onsen very much. There is a special thing we notice during our stay - it is so elegant to have toilot paper with beautiful lace patterns in the room. I can see that the staffs prepared the stay with care.

Takashi and family run a wonderful hotel, everybody was so polite and friendly. Each room is slightly different, I stayed in Asuka which had a classic nautical vibe which I loved. Great views and a delightful outdoor shower/bath. The two spas onsite were a lovely experience at the end of the day. Oh and the breakfast was amazing!

We got a bigger room type with balcony and partial ocean view on the 6th floor (highest). The room is big and comfortable. The view from the side is actually better than the front since it looks directly into the beach cove with hills and cliffs rather than the front of the hotel lawn. Breakfast is plentiful. The onsen is beautiful with great ocean view. Location is also very good, a short walk to Perry road and the historical center.

The balcony onsen was a dream with views of both the sunrise and set over the ocean. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The food was sublime - both fresh and plentiful. I left feeling extremely relaxed. I’ll definitely be back!

The location is a short walk-through residential area and provides a good orientation of the town. The ryokan is charming and comfortable - it has the traditional aspects but with elevated modern comfort and aesthetic appeal. I love the practical design of the room as well as the private onsen.

This is undoubtedly the best hotel I have stayed in. Everything from the location, the amazing staff, the huge room from where you can see the beach and the incredible private onsen inside the room was 10/10. It’s a bit far from everything but it’s completely worth it. Also, they provide a bus to and from the station.

We loved everything about our stay here! The hosts are extremely nice and very helpful with recommendations etc. It was so easy for us to communicate as foreigners too as they're fluent in English as well! They accommodated our late arrival, free parking and us not eating meat and prepared a giant delicious feast for dinner the next day. The building also has 3 private Onsens, which were really comfortable. Honestly, peak Ryokan experience, we're so glad we stayed here, cannot recommend this place enough!

Very authentic experience in a traditional but original Ryokan. The futon was very comfortable and the room spacious. The onsen was pleasant and spacious, including an outside bath. The price was fair and convenient. Overall we recommend this place.

Private onsens, nice room in an amazing place. The owners are really great, friendly and helpful. And to top it all off their food was AMAZING. Better than most restaurants. Stay at this place and spend your money at this amazing family business and have a great experience.
