Amazing property and terrific value for money. The room we stayed was seperate from the main building (a 2’ walk away) had an onsen bath + outdoor onsen areas and was simply stunning. Such a luxurious feel! You’re own private spa. Good location as well - walkable distance from the sights. (Hells of Beppu etc..) Would highly recommend.

Amazing. I loved the place with references to manga/anime everywhere in the house, great collection of pokemon cards 😅... Totsi is a super host, when I arrived he was preparing super yummy Dorayaki (Japanese pancakes with sweet bean paste) with the other travelers and invited me to join them 😋 After that we played card games till midnight. Close to the hostel there are several onsen opened until 2am with outdoor bath that are perfect for relaxing night bath. The facilities in the house were really good and everything was clean. The place was excellent value for money Thank you Totsi ! 🙏

The building itself was a piece of art, and so fun to explore! Amazing room, staff and view over Beppu. For breakfast we had a delicious vegan curry for breakfast! The hotel lies nearby bus stops for easy access to the train station, or a day trip to Yufuin.

Tojistay was really great!The main advantage is the best hosts I have met around Japan,Miho and her son!!they were so hospitable,friendly and keen to socialise with their visitors always with politeness and smile! Although a lonely traveller,I felt like home,being invited for joining the breakfast and delicious dinners.Hosts were more than helpful in providing best tips regarding the best available sightseeing around.Moreover the place is at a perfect location to visit Hells locations, to enjoy the variety of onsens and to feel the steaming environment everywhere around!!Thank you Miho,thank you Michuri, I am fully recommend your place and I hope, me or some will meet you again soon 😁😁

I’ve stayed in countless hotels around Japan but Bettei Haruki is my favorite. The staff’s hospitality exceeded my expectations especially Yuki, he was a good host. The kaseki course dinner was such a good experience. I especially enjoyed the wagyu shabu shabu. The onsens were also amazing, I loved how they were private and the ambiance was just great! I will definitely come back!

Hotel was nicely renovated and decorated. Rooms were a great size with a balcony, and also had a private hot spring onsen in the room which is good for families with children. Bed was extremely comfortable and view was fantastic.

Incredible hospitality, beautiful old house, and an open air private onsen to enjoy. They even asked about my diet and had a vegan meal as an option. Really good traditional Japanese inn experience in an ideal part of the city. It's less than a 10 minute walk from the ocean, shopping streets, and Beppu station which is also where the buses to the "hells" hot springs and ropeway can be taken.

Booked including dinner because there aren't many restaurants near by. We did not expect to be served a 9 course Kaiseki meal. It was delicious and presented beautifully. The rooms were spacious and very clean, with private Onsen bath on the balcony. Can highly recommend this beautiful Ryokan for a stay in Beppu.

Stunning place in the heart of the old Beppu near the Hells of Beppu, incredible place built like a maze but in the coolest way, you can cook over the hot spring steams, the rooms are traditional Japanese style and extremely cozy with good views. Downstairs there's 2 public Onsen and a few streets over there is a private Onsen to enjoy too. The staff is incredibly nice too. Probably the coolest place I've ever stayed at.

Where should I start ... everything was so great, we had wonderful Room in an old beautiful Ryokan with view on the garden and everything was made with a lot of love and wonderful taste. For me it was the perfect Japanese experience ... then there is an outdoor Onsen that you can use twice a day as a private Onsen. Beautiful in a backyard Garden. We were so happy to stay there for three Nights.

It is a modernize ryokan with Japanese tradition. It is located within a residential area which is very quiet and not busy at all. The hotel is very clean and staffs here are super friendly with great service. We have an oversize private onsen in our room which is the one big thing that we enjoy our stay here.
