The setting is exceptional, a beautifully restored ancestral Goan home with unique antique wooden furniture, spotless rooms, and shared spaces that invite you to slow down rather than rush through. The balcão, shared living room space, and garden areas are all impeccably maintained and full of quiet character. The architecture was a major reason I chose to stay here, and it exceeded expectations, authentic, elegant, and deeply atmospheric. The village surroundings are tranquil, with birdsong and a sense of calm that’s increasingly rare. What truly set this stay apart was the feeling of being a guest, not a customer. While still en route to the property in my driver’s car, I received a phone call asking what I might like for lunch. That small but thoughtful gesture set the tone for everything that followed. Time genuinely slowed down here. The food was a highlight. I didn’t even look at a menu. After a brief conversation about dietary requirements, I simply trusted the kitchen, and I was rewarded with beautifully prepared, traditional Goan dishes. Not knowing what would arrive next only enhanced the experience. Each meal felt home style, confident, and deeply local, I was born in Ireland, and this was important to me as a tourist in India for the 2nd year in a row. I want to make special mention of Mr. Nazeem Shaikh, the manager, who embodies the spirit of this place. He sat with me during check in, and we had a warm, unhurried conversation about what I hoped to get from my stay and my time in South Goa. He was calm, attentive, thoughtful, and exceptionally well informed. He assisted with arranging private transport, offered excellent local recommendations, and consistently anticipated needs without ever being intrusive. One small example says everything.
