I recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Takayama. The breakfast is delicious, the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area, and the rooms are very cosy and clean. I will definitely come back here.

Everything was amazing. The room was spacious and immaculately clean. The kitchenette was well stocked and convenient. The staff were very friendly and helpful. As for the breakfasts - they were superb! The location is great too just across the road from the train station. We thoroughly recommend the Relax Hotel in Takayama and would stay here again for sure.

Absolutely stunning. I'm so glad I booked this house. Sitting in the hot tube was amazing especially while it was raining outside. It is not an Onsen, just a hot tube (as advertised). Fantastic experience.

Hirasawa (our host) was very helpful and welcoming, he cooked the meal with local products and introduced the ingredients. The house is authentic in a beautiful location, it was truly imersive experience in Takayama.

Very very spacious, with a dedicated “camping themed” room where the whole family can watch movies on projector screen (even has popcorn machine!!!). Staff are generous with their smiles and breakfast was awesome. 5 stars rating from everyone in my family, no doubt.

Very good hotel with a large room for Japanese standards The room had a small kitchen with a single electric pit to cook on, and the frigide came with complementary drinks and spices. The bath is pretty big as well. Staff was very friendly and accomodating and the breakfast was good with a chef grilling chicken skewers and making pancakes.

although the room itself was very simple (as advertised) these monks really know what they are doing in terms of what matters in accommodation. Towels were thick, luxurious and impeccably white. Shampoos etc, and shared living room architecture were of top quality. Also proper coffee bags in the kitchen instead of jars of instant!. and nice that they could give restaurant recommendations, and are open enough to let foreign tourists share their prayer service. it was a lovely traditional cultural experience.
