CanadaEverything was beyond what expected, from the service to location to the facilities. You have a massive bungalow style home with a fireplace, almost a full kitchen, 180° view of the ocean and stars. It's so quiet and in pristine condition with Jai to pick you up to and from the bottom of the hill. I have never experienced anything like this retreat before and it's 110% worth the stay. It's secluded but still close to Wharariki Beach/Abel Tasman National Park, it's everything you could ask for and more. I can't recommend this stay enough.

Filip and Sonya were fabulous hosts-very hospitable and generous with information and recommendations. The shuttle service to Abel Tasman made a day tramping in the park seamless. We enjoyed the accommodations so much we were lucky enough to be able to extend our stay by one day. Pōhara is an excellent location for visiting the Golden Bay and I can’t recommend the Bay Lodge highly enough.

Fabulous staff, gorgeous rooms, so calm, quiet and tranquil. We paid a little more for the Luxury Room - very spacious, probably half again the size of the Deluxe. Only 10 rooms, room 10 being the only Luxury room. Ask for a higher room number to be a little more private and away from the (not busy) road.
The on-site restaurant was amazing, best duck I’ve ever had, and a perfect breakfast selection.
The staff though are the biggest asset of this lodge, so lovely, welcoming and accommodating.
It was very hard to leave.
