My wife and I had a wonderful stay at this lodge and it began the moment we arrived. The owners welcomed us warmly and, as we had cycled all day to get to it and did not realise that the store across the street (which is in fact not a store) would be closed, we had no food for the evening. Without a moment's hesitation the owners arranged a nice supper for us, including a salad picked fresh from their garden. We spent an interesting evening chatting with them as well as another couple of local New Zealanders staying at the lodge. The bed was very comfortable, the room and bathroom were very clean, and there is a nice deck to sit out on. The location, right near the beach, is a perfect stop for cyclists on the way from Picton to Kaikoura, and we can highly recommend it!

Everything was amazing! Brand new, modern and impeccable clean facilities! They even have a well equiped guess lounge on the second floor for everyone to chill and enjoy the view! Mary was super kind and welcoming. She even kindly reminded us through booking.com that the restaurants in town would be really busy on the day we scheduled to arrive due to the Easter holiday which helped us plan ahead. It's super quite and dark at night so would be a perfect for stargazing place if it wasn't cloudy that night. Already looking forward to going back some time and having a proper stargazing experience there. Also FYI, they have some really cool "old-fashioned" airplanes in the same building! Mary was so kind and gave us a tour when we asked about it. This is honestly one of the best motels we ever stayed!
