Mary was extremely welcoming and friendly - she let us visit the plane in her hangar, and also offered a great chat! The ingredients given for the breakfast was also good, although you do have to cook the eggs yourself (an egg station is set up). There was also flexibility for a late check out, which was offered free of charge.

The guest suite is warm and spacious with private access and covered parking for your car. It is part of a beautiful architecturally built property set amongst native plantings with amazing views of the mountains. All of the fittings are of the highest standards, and with the access to laundry facilities, means you can comfortably stay for as long as you need to unwind. The owners, Carla and Glen, were a very sweet couple and genuinely hospitable. Great place to stay and just a very short walk to beautiful scenic beaches. A stop in paradise.

Huge rooms, each were clean, tidy and the showers are amazing! We were leaving early so the hosts put out breakfast in the restaurant so we could eat before we hit the road. It was such a lovely touch. I wish we had longer! Top tip, when you book, message the restaurant and book in for dinner. Failing that, the Waitaki pub had a good menu.

We flew into Christchurch as we wanted to start our NZ adventure on the South Island. We arrived in the morning and Cathy & Grant let us check in early. Once settled, they suggested some ideas for that afternoon as well as several options for lunch & dinner . All of there recommendations were great. The location of the lodge is in a peaceful garden with a stream flowing through the back yard. We had a great night’s sleep as it has to be one of the quietest places in New Zealand. We spent the next day in Christchurch and a second peaceful night of sleep and we were well on our way to time zone adjustment and ready to explore more of the South Island. Thanks Cathy & Grant
