The location is amazing. Peaceful with great views, and close access to the railway line beneath. So it is a good starting point for climbing Mount Ella and seeing the waterfall. A nice walk along the tracks or the road into town, or a TukTuk is always ready to drop or pick you up. The breakfasts and dinners were delicious, they catered to my vegan preferences without hesitation. The room was new and clean and the view of the train track beneath is probably the best location in Ella. I loved relaxing on the balcony in the afternoons watching the train and walkers on the tracks.

Absolutely brilliant, I'm so glad we read all the reviews and found this hidden gem! What a great place, it will definitely keep getting amazing reviews so don't think twice about booking it! Some reviewers thought it was 'out of town' which we thought was hilarious, it's a couple of minutes walk down to the action, but with the reassurance that you can retreat to a peaceful jungle like setting with a really good chance of seeing the resident giant squirrel. Charming, chatty, helpful host who welcomed us with lovely coffee and cake, we felt very spoilt! He organised a very good taxi to the South Coast for a much better price than other places. Thank you so much, you made the trip to Sri Lanka very special!

It was a short walk down to the bridge if you wanted to get on the tracks which was great. The room itself was absolutely perfect. All of the amenities we could have asked for and you could tell it was very new. It was also a short tuk tuk ride into town when we wanted to do some shopping, and our host was so generous to give us a ride when we needed. The family that hosted couldn’t have been any sweeter, and we were so grateful for the time we got to spend there and the opportunity to have met them!!

Maybe one of the loveliest rooms we booked in our 3 weeks in Sri Lanka. It had 2 beds, a porch and a view on the opposite hill with a Buddhist temple. It is not in downtown Ella but you get the view, so it's a question of taste. Breakfast was served on the porch and was delicious. The owner was great and helped us organize our pickup to and from the cottage as well as a driver to go to Yala.

For our group of six occupying three rooms, this was a wonderful place we truly enjoyed. It’s located outside Ella, but the 6 km walk along the railway is easy and filled with great views; the train ride is also a memorable experience and highly recommended. The accommodation feels authentic, with beautiful vistas and the gentle sounds of nature and local life. The host and his family are extremely friendly and helpful; we always felt safe and welcome. The owner even took us to a nearby tea factory for a fantastic private tour. Breakfast was a typical local meal; we apologise again to the host for not fully appreciating it. We highly recommend booking this place – every morning here is magical! 😊

Don’t feel like walking? Take advantage of the complimentary tuk-tuk service they provide. The accommodation is beautifully and thoughtfully designed, with attention to even the smallest details. The bathroom is a true delight to behold! And the food, the staff—everything is simply amazing. I had read many glowing reviews before arriving and had high expectations, but this surpassed them all. It might not be the cheapest option in the area, but the experience is worth every single penny!

Had the best time in Sri Lanka here! The host family are so friendly and kind, doing everything they can so that we are happy. Met the entire family, including the dog! Nice room with terrace, where we had great breakfast and perhaps the best dinner in Sri Lanka! The owner arranged scooter, tuktuk whenever we needed and gave great instructions and recommendations for hikes etc. Great memory in Sri Lanka!

The room has an amazing view, with big windows that you can watch sunrise from bed, all the facilities are new and luxurious, it is very well equipped and the staff is very welcoming and friendly. We had an amazing experience with Kamal during our stay From the moment he picked us up, he went above and beyond to ensure our trip was special. Kamal guided us to Diyaluma Falls, and drove us to the Halpewatte Tea Factory, and.. He was incredibly kind, attentive to details, and always made sure we were comfortable. What really stood out was Kamal’s thoughtful planning—he shared invaluable tips to help us avoid crowds and enjoy peaceful moments at each destination. He patiently waited for us, gave us plenty of time to explore, and was never in a rush. His friendly attitude, local insights, and very reasonable pricing made the experience truly memorable. We highly recommend him to anyone visiting Ella! At the same time he was not pushing us to anything we did not want to do! We also did the cooking class they offer which was also amazing local experience.
