Lodges in Timbavati Game Reserve

Motswari was one of 4 safari lodges we stayed in during our trip. They were all excellent but the Motswari experience stood out for several reasons. The game drives were exciting and consistently accommodating to the guests' requests, thanks to the knowledgeable and entertaining guidance of Eric and his diligent tracker, Difference. Food was exceptional, ranging from romantic Boma nights to the robust singing entrance delivery of the daily lunch buffet. Grounds were impressive and expertly maintained. Accommodation was outstanding with regard to cleanliness, charm, and comfort. Beautiful, serene and peaceful surroundings. Friendly and attentive staff and service. Not a thing to complain about-- commendable beyond expectation in all aspects.

The experience at Thabamati exceeded all of our expectations. We kicked off our honeymoon in SA with a 4 night safari and we must say the bar was set very high! The food was excellent, the accommodations were spotless and the staff were so attentive and welcoming. The lodge is bang in the middle of it all with resident hippos just meters away from your tent. Mich and Charlie pour their heart and soul into curating a slice of paradise in the wild for their guests and the results speak for themselves. The safari itself was nothing short of breathtaking. We saw the big 5 and more up close with detailed explanation and interesting tid bits of information constantly flowing. The guide and Oscar the tracker are super informative, knowledgeable and professional. We would definitely recommend it for a personal and high end safari experience!

Everything from start to end. The place is stunning. The rooms, the shower outside, the pool, the sounds, the service was beyond, the Safari guides were just unbelievable (Patrick found any animal and Sincle was explaining Everything what an outstanding knowledge). Don't hesitate just go worth every penny. The Massage was one of the best I've ever done.

We stayed 3 nights at King's Camp out of a total of 11 nights in South Africa and this was by far the best part of our entire trip. The place is immaculate - very large and comfortable rooms, extremely friendly staff and a beautiful location in the TImbavati game reserve. We were taken out for dawn and dusk game drives by our own dedicated ranger Cynet and spotter Sunnyboy, in vehicle we had to ourselves most of the time. All the seats were next to the side (so there were no obstructed views), there were warm blankets in the car for the cold and we stopped for sundowners every evening and watched the stars come out - and what stars - amazing views of the milky way. The game was excellent too - lions including cubs, leopard + kill, and all the rest of the big five (if that's what you're into), hyena and cubs. A big highlight was following a leopard through the bush in the car - simply unforgettable! Plus a multitude of birds from eagles to wax-bills - and our extremely knowledgeable ranger Cynet could identify them all! Our room was enormous and luxurious - private secluded pool and veranda area, carefully designed so that it was not overlooked but looked out into the bush with animals traipsing past! There's also a wonderful hide by the waterhole so you can watch the animals coming down to drink and mud-bathe - including a whole herd of elephants! The staff still have a sense of wonder about the animals they see and are just as excited as the guests. And there are steenboks and kudu who visit the grounds and wander around the rooms - and a lovely night-watchman who escorts you to and from your room after dark. The trouble with the food was that it was too good and too plentiful - hard not to gain weight! Well cooked, well presented and served by lovely, attentive staff. Every other night we had a buffet in the traditional "boma" around a fire with our guide.

Just fantastic from the very start. I will miss this place but hopefully can make it back some time soon.

The staff were all superlative

We loved the location in the middle of the bush. The amenities and the comfort are outstanding while eco responsible. The staff is absolutely lovely and very careful while being very professional. The food is excellent and changes every day, the walk games are wonderful even if of course you don't see as many animals as in cars...but the contact with the nature and the intercation with animals is unique...and our guide was so nice and skilled. I defintely recommend to anyone who wants to live a true expreience in the bush

We enjoyed that the property was so close to the Orpen gate of KNP while we were also given the option to go for a private game drive. Food was great while Veronica and her staff were so hospitable! Highly recommended!

We loved our stay at Africa on foot. It was a very unique and special stay that I feel very lucky to have experienced. The walking safaris were like any other and very special to see how the guides track animals. Their skill is incredible. All staff were lovely and knowledgeable - from the guides, through to the cooks and maintenance workers. The food was also amazing! I am vegetarian and was extremely happy with the quality of the food I was given. They feed you really well!

An absolutely stunning lodge — beautifully designed with elegant suites and tasteful African-inspired art throughout. Our game drives with Julian were the highlight: he was incredibly enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and full of fascinating stories about wildlife and South Africa itself. Food and service were truly world-class, with a great selection of wines to choose from.
