Ideal for nature-lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and self-catered. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than holiday homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.

Room was lovely - spacious, comfortable. The lodge was in a great location - very near glacier walk and glow worm location. Breakfast was excellent - eggs, toast, tea, coffee, youghurt and fruit, all laid out in a large homely kitchen

This place reminded me of a ski lodge in the US. It's was rustic but very comfy. The town is tiny and this is a great place to stay in town. We met several other couples at breakfast so that was fun. We had a large corner room that was great. They had a nice free glow work walk that left from the office at 9pm.

The Lodge was near the centre at Fox Glacier which was good.
Staff were excellent with information about local attractions and had also arranged a trip to see glow worms free of charge.
