We can highly recommend Fern Hill Cabins. Chathura and his family are warm and welcoming hosts who are always happy to help with any questions or requests – whether it’s organizing a TukTuk, arranging transportation to your next destination, or anything else you might need. Our cabin was new, modern, and spread over two floors – spotlessly clean, and with a breathtaking view over Ella. A nice bonus: we were able to enjoy a cozy movie night with the projector in the cabin. On request, Chathura can arrange a delicious dinner from a nearby restaurant, served right on the terrace in front of the cabin. Breakfast was fresh, varied, and lovingly prepared. Another big plus: the hike to Ella Rock starts right from the cabin. All in all, a wonderful stay!

Absolutely brilliant, I'm so glad we read all the reviews and found this hidden gem! What a great place, it will definitely keep getting amazing reviews so don't think twice about booking it! Some reviewers thought it was 'out of town' which we thought was hilarious, it's a couple of minutes walk down to the action, but with the reassurance that you can retreat to a peaceful jungle like setting with a really good chance of seeing the resident giant squirrel. Charming, chatty, helpful host who welcomed us with lovely coffee and cake, we felt very spoilt! He organised a very good taxi to the South Coast for a much better price than other places. Thank you so much, you made the trip to Sri Lanka very special!

I really liked the view of the bridge. It is in a quiet location far from the city center. We had a clean and tidy room. The breakfast was plentiful. The accommodation provider was at our disposal for everything. A tuk-tuk driver was always available. Transfer to and from the next accommodation.

Best stay ever!! Everything was amazing!! The extremely caring host, the comfortable great room, bed, lighting, amazing view to the train tracks and lush nature. We immediately felt like part of the family. Devaka has been showing us around his beautiful garden. He is generous, warm -hearted- a very great person! He got deep into our hearts. He brings the word "homestay" to another level- never have we felt so at home in such short time!! We got a tea from his own garden every day as well! The food is home cooked and of course also very delicious. It is the best authentic caring beautiful homestay ever in Sri Lanka

The scenery within the property is breathtaking, like something straight out of Jumanji. Every tropical tree you can imagine, hills, running water and a rice pattie. The location was perfect for us, only a 10 min walk to Ella town but far enough that it felt like you were in the hills. The staff were a highlight, too. They go out of their way to make your stay authentic and pleasurable. Very, very nice people.

We had a fantastic two-night stay with Vimukthi and his wonderful family. The bed was very comfortable and the view is absolutely stunning. We had dinner there on our first night and it ended up being our favourite meal of our entire trip to Sri Lanka. We also arranged for Vimukthi to drop us to town and collect us in the evenings, and everything went perfectly. The whole family were so warm and welcoming, which made the stay even more special. Highly recommend!

Absolutely beautiful hotel, in a fantastic setting amongst the trees. The staff were incredibly warm and friendly, and helpful whenever needed. The rooms were spotless and very stylish. The hotel is a short walk into the busyness of Ella town centre, or quick Tuk Tuk ride from the hotel neighbour who is always on hand for a simple flat fee. Superb place.

The views were absolutely amazing and so was our host!! She made us a delicious breakfast every morning, helped us plan our activities in Ella and even gave us an incredible cooking class, making some great Sri Lankan curries! And for such a good price!
