special thanks to the friendly and lovely hosts we met - Gede, the dad, and uncle - during our 2 night stay. we booked 2 rooms side by side that opened into lush greenery and mount agung in the distance. rooms were big (great affect on wellbeing, surprisingly). very clean, no dust even on the ceiling fan and on the floor under the bed (something fell under the bed so i had a look). comfy bed. great sleep. breakfast is served around 8-9am and brought to your terrace. imagine sipping on coffee with a magnificent view in front of you. warm water may run out if you take long showers. soap, shampoo provided. no issues with wifi. aircon works in case it gets warm in the day. but with the chilly weather at night there was no need for aircon. hairdryer available. if you want to hire driver to bring you up to Besakih, you can ask Gede (host) who speaks both indo and english. he will bring there and wait for 1.5h until you are done. he brought us to a restaurant for lunch after - it had an amazing view of rice terraces! and then we swung by a mini mart for magnum ice cream afterwards as the day grew warmer. for dinner, i’d highly recommend Warung Ibu Ida which is 5 minutes walk away. managed by a lovely grandma who makes amazing home cooked dishes. amongst others, get the curry chicken (comes with rice), and u must try her pisang goreng for dessert.

· A new Lodge located on the side of a steep hill, consisting of a double-storey house with choice of 2 single beds or 1 double bed with a large adjacent bathrooms which included both bath and separate shower and cupboard space for clothing. Externally a sitting area on either the patio or balcony depending on your choice of room. The free breakfast was served in an adjacent dining area and offered substantial offerings of Indo, Continental or American pastries, eggs, home made buns, bread with coverings of local jam, honey, yoghurt, coffee/tea and fresh juices. Al-la-Carte breakfast was also available at an additional cost. Trekking thru the rice paddies was available twice daily and there was a very large pool to relax in following a hot but not exhaustive walk. Also Yoga sessions and massages were provided by the attentive staff. We also hired the Lodge car and driver to explore Sudirman in the afternoon., For the evening dinner, served in the Lodge own Atis restaurant, we were collected by the Lodge car and transported the 150m to the restaurant. The menu was exhaustive covering Local, Thai, Indian & Western cuisine, all delicious (try the Mutton curry) and very reasonably priced, as was the wine selection. Service, likewise in the rest of the Lodge was quick, friendly and efficient.

What an absolute gem. No wonder this place is so highly rated. The location, the amazingly well maintained and comfortable villas (only two) everything and I mean everything was awesome. I remember waking up in the morning and seeing the host cleaning up a couple of leaves from the pool. Every single detail is attended to. Air conditioning was great and all new. Everything here is new and impeccable together with the service and cooked to order food. Even the massage from the local therapist was great and she came with her own massage table. When I checked out I ordered the local version of Yber (Grab and I also tried GoJek). As I needed a ride about 20 min away. But there was not many around so I just had to wait a while. Out of the blue I hear a voice: hop on and I will take you to Sidemen (place where I was going). I looked and I saw it was the host from Wapa d Umen. He took me all the way to my destination and when I offered to pay him for the ride he just smiled, refused and wished me a good day and left. What an amazing host. 100% confidence in recommending this place.

Friendly staff, that went out of their way to be helpful. Excellent swimming pool. Nice breakfast. Quiet location next to farmland and close to the river. Other restaurants nearby.
