Ugh. If you're into Dunkin' Donuts, Starbucks and Burger King on every corner you've found your place. Otherwise, honestly, skip it. There's a lot of history here, obviously, but it was lost in the crowds and the clutter. Sad.

On Dam Square, the Royal Palace exterior looks grotty but inside it was amazing. Pay an entry and be well pleased with what you get to see. The audio device was too soft for me but just follow the signs and look for yourself.

Worth a visit to see the different architecture in the city which then leads onto the large shopping area and department store. We went November and everywhere was starting to display their windows and the streets ready for Christmas, lovely atmosphere.

Excellent location, it's in West Amsterdam so not close to Dam Square etc but there is a tram line right outside the main entrance that goes to Centraal which stops regularly. The hotel is very clean and the staff are excellent.
The location is fantastic! It's tucked away in a peaceful spot, yet you're within easy walking distance of the Red Light District, Dam Square, and more. Plus, public transport is right on your doorstep, making it a breeze to get around the city. The neighbourhood itself is lovely, with tons of cafes, restaurants, and shops to discover. Also the train station is just 7 minute work away from the hostel Neumarket...I hope i go the spelling right....lol
The location was perfect for us to walk to all main attractions, less than 10 minutes to Dam Square. Easy access to airport, trams, shops and night life. There was a good supermarket two minutes away.
The hotel staff were friendly and most helpful.
Our room was very clean and serviced daily and when we requested extra towels and a change of sheets there was no issue.
We would definitely stay again and recommend to our friends.
We had an amazing stay at Erik Vökel Apartments - the whole staff were on top point and we felt very safe and comfortable during our stay. Location is perfect, just a 10 min walk into Dam Square! Very clean and aesthetically pleasing. 100% recommend.
Thank you to Kieran and the whole team at Erik Vökel Apartments 🥰😉
Stayed here a few times before! Great location and view of Dam Square from our hotel room. We were delighted to be given a free upgrade to a suite and tickets for a canal tour for being ‘guest of the day’!
We could not fault the welcoming staff, the room was super comfortable and clean! We will definitely be visiting again.
The apartment is located near the central station and 20 minutes walk to the city centre (Dam Square).
The host Thamar is so available and active to answer for any needs.
I appreciated the presence of coffee and thea machine in the room.
The room was very clean and complete with all the main amenities.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff. A clean and practical room that gave me all I needed, including coffee and a kettle, plus decent wifi and a good shower. Small balcony window on the back of the hotel, so no street noise at all. Well heated. Airport Bus 397 drops you more or less at the door. Perfect location for the Concertgebouw and Rijksmuseum, so a half hour walk to Dam Square etc.
Location of the hotel is 5+, exactly in the center, near Dam Square. 10 min by foot from Amsterdam Centraal rail station. Very comfortable to move to airport.
Hotel is old style from 80-s, but clean. Rooms are simple, but if you are going only to sleep in the room, then its ok.
Room is big and hall of the hotel has space and lift, which is very seldom for Amsterdam becouse of specific of old buildings.

Visit The Nine Streets 'De Negen Straatjes' for unique boutiques with the odd Abercrombie shop. I love the shoes here, try United Nude-pop up shops scattered around right now. I love De Bijenkorf (The Beehive), the department store by Dam Square for its one step ahead, soon to come homewares trends.

If you take a detour from the main shopping strip leading to Dam Square, there are a number of smaller shops for the more particular shopper. My favourite was what looked like a small musical instrument shop, but turned out to be huge. There was also a retro computer game shop that was a little expensive but had an amazing array of consoles and games.

Stay off the beaten track and away from places like Dam Square and the Red Light District. There are plenty of small cafes and restaurants close to the canals. Look for where the local people go to eat and take recommendations from your hotel. Always worth checking out the restaurants in the Internet before you go and always try to book
