We really enjoyed our stay here! When you entered Byakudan, you can smell sandalwood right away, it’s so calming and it’s a vibe. The staff welcomed us with fresh green tea and japanese snacks. Everything was done perfectly and the staff were so nice and helpful. The girl who served us during dinner and breakfast, her name is Saki, she was so helpful and nice to us, even wrote us a little thank you note before our departure. It was so sweet of her. And we hope to see her again during our next stay in Byakudan :)

We had the most incredible and relaxing time here. Food was unexpectedly a large tasting menu of fine small dishes and was great! Staff are amazing and so kind, facilities are great, location is lovely and scenic and quiet. Onsen is clean and beautiful. All in all great time, didn’t want to leave

The temple is very beautiful; the pirate ships are...

The temple is very beautiful; the pirate ships are remarkably kitsch. Don't linger till late if you plan on getting the bus back - the queues were substantial, and the prolonged wait required till after dark to finally get conveyed to Hakone-Yumoto station was bordering on a hypothermic episode. Take some warm gear and be prepared for a considerable delay.

Good food - Buffet is very nice. Good location - very near ubako station (can walk from back of the hotel in 3 mins) which is just one station away from Owakudani and lake Ashi. Great onsen and you can see fujisan view in clear day.

This was an amazing stay. We came here after Tokyo and was a great place to relax and unwind. We got free socks on arrival too. The onsen was also great to use after a long day. The rooms were spacious and so relaxing. We were also able to get the bus from just outside the hotel to the destinations we wanted to go to. Lake Ashi was about a 30 minute bus ride and was about a 40 minute ride to the train station. Would recommend here to anyone that wants to go to Hakone.

Great location, right next to the Ropeway station and Lake Ashi. Spacious and clean rooms, with a beautiful view of Mount Fuji. The onsen in the hotel is a big plus. The restaurant offers a nice buffet, and the staff are very friendly.

This ryokan-style hotel, where it is a bit obvious that it is not the newest, but that adds to its authentic atmosphere. A breathtaking combination of breakfast and dinner served directly to the room, sleeping on futons spread out on tatami and an absolutely amazing separate onsen with its own hot spring for men and women, available from 6:30 to midnight. The hotel itself is about 300 m from the cable car stop for trips to Lake Ashi.

Excellent hotel by the Lake Ashi. Free shuttle bus to/from Odawara Station and Motohakone where you can take a 10 mins walk to Hakone Shrine, Torii of Peace and catch the Sight Seeing Cruise. Had 4 beds in our room, still felt spacious. Very clean - perfect for family stay. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast buffet had plenty of choice.

The rooms with private onsen are simply faboulous. Not only you get a mini apartment with a small bathroom and a stunning view of both Mt Fuji and Lake Ashi, but in the private onsen/shower room you have an additional large bathroom equipped with everything you may desire. The staff is extremely friendly, and the structure itself is stunning. The set dinner is delicious and is served in the most refined way possible.

The free Yunessan included in our stay was amazing. We spent all afternoon there both days. After being in Tokyo it was nice to have somewhere to go to relax instead of site seeing and walking all day. The buffet was amazing, so many Japanese and western options. The hotel was in a beautiful forresty area which made it so relaxing. The hotel is an easy bus ride to lake Ashi which is very worth seeing.
