brand new hotel, spacious rooms, very clean, great location, close to yasaka, ninenzaka, and all other attractions near gion. eventhough there was no official breakfast, the hotel arranged free light breakfast (cereals, toast, jam, juice…). guess this was just due to recent opening

I liked everything about this hotel! It is in a calm area yet close to all the "must-see and must-experience" sights in Kyoto. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and the bakery and workspace downstairs made my day! Don't forget to finish your long day at the rooftop bar in front of a cosy fireplace, sipping Negroni and enjoying the moment.

Everything was perfect: a very nice hotel in a good location with friendly and polite staff, a great view of the city with a foot bath where you can have a Japanese bento breakfast (you need to pick it up at the reception in the morning, free ice cream and coffee all day), a clean room with everything you need, a great onsen. Beautiful hotel in the middle of Gion. The room was spacious, with a tatami space and beautiful details. Free amenities include very nice bath salts. The hotel is relatively small and has a very calm and cosy atmosphere. Our room did not have a view but the room itself was so nice that it wasn’t an issue.

Kiyomizu-dera Temple

The Kiyomizu-dera – or Pure Water – Temple is a Kyoto must-see. Pilgrims have been flocking to this sacred site since the 8th century, so the steep path up is lined with souvenir stalls and snack stands. In spring, it looks out over a sea of pink cherry blossom, while autumn provides picture-perfect panoramas of flame-coloured maple trees.

On the way to the temple entrance there are a lot of shops...

On the way to the temple entrance there are a lot of shops selling local famous foods (like dango, mochi, matcha flavoured drinks and icecreams) and cute souvenirs. Most of these places accept only cash - so keep that handy if you want to buy. If you are a vegetarian, there are 1-2 restaurants serving vegan dishes, but they close lunch by 3 pm. So try to plan such that you finish your meal within that time.

Like anyone will tell you, make sure you go EARLY so you can beat the crowds. I went at about 8 or 9 AM just before a really big tourist crowd came in and I was able to see the temple and walk around fine. It is beautiful and you can get really nice views of the whole city from up there.

If you can visit the temple in June or Autumn, you'll have really great views. Always respect the temple surroundings and be silent. Other than that, you can enjoy a wonderful place made entirely without any nails. Also, you can walk the path next to the temple to get other unique views.

best to wear comfortable shoes as this is a bit of hike. best to approach this place from yazaka area the go thru the park towards ninenzaka and sanenzaka. these two streets have lots of small traditional shops which you can also explore. we had lunch in sannenzaka area and a tea experience is also worth around that place. so many snack area along the way and many visitors wear kimonos. best to visit during autumn or spring season
